Many ifs, starting with DCU actually beating Montreal. However, Chicago is playing NYCFC which is fighting for a #4 seed and exemption from the play-in round. While Atlanta is playing Columbus which is trying to hold onto the #4. So, one would expect both NYCFC and Columbus attempting to get results in those games. Not impossible for DCU, just highly unlikely.
Yep. DC and MIA have the "easiest" opponents. CHI is lucky to have NYCFC at home rather than in the Yankee Stadium bandbox, but CHI hasn't won in 5 matches, so at least current form is against them. ATL probably has the toughest matchup of them all.
Good catch. That would give United one more win than Chicago, winning that tiebreaker. That's actually a pretty huge deal. It's hard to see Chicago losing at home, but a tie is right in their wheelhouse, especially since NYC is a good team playing well at the moment. I am confident Columbus will get at least a draw against Atlanta at home after losing to 10 man Orlando. They will want to play their best 11 and be prepared for the playoffs.
Really wild to think that United has a decent path to the playoffs. According to MLS D.C. United will clinch a berth in the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs if: D.C. United win vs. Montreal AND ... Chicago lose or tie vs. NYCFC AND ... Atlanta lose or tie vs. Columbus – OR – D.C. United win vs. Montreal AND ... Chicago lose or tie vs. NYCFC AND ... Miami lose or tie vs. Cincinnati – OR – D.C. United win vs. Montreal AND ... Atlanta lose or tie vs. Columbus AND ... Miami lose or tie vs. Cincinnati
Great piece at MLS.com about Dave Johnson. Why are people chopping onions around me? https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2020...ve-johnson-determined-his-battle-ms-will-have
Not sure if it belongs here, but Aaron Johannsson is leaving Hammerby (12 goals in 24 matches). He's thinking about returning to the Bundesliga, but also is interested in MLS. He says playing in MLS has always been a goal of his.
