"In addition, the club will continue their Pathway-to-Pro program; an initiative focused on partnering with elite local youth clubs, Loudoun Soccer, Player Progression Academy, Arlington Soccer Association, Alexandria Soccer Association, Virginia Development Academy, and Pipeline Soccer Club to develop players for the next level."

Loser organization happy with loser coach should be the article title.

    "
He will not have to worry about his job status, “barring endless embarrassing defeats,” said a person close to the team who requested anonymity to speak candidly.

The organization was happy with the way he managed the worst stretch of an injury crisis: a road victory against the Red Bulls and a home draw against New York City FC (despite being outshot 19-0) before Saturday’s defeat."

Now we know why Benny plays to protect the deficit. The FO is fine with losing, just not embarrassing losses.

As for Hamid - he was once a contender for the USMNT.

He was over in Holland, and returned because he wasn't getting much playing time and was arguably third or fourth string (he didn't really even play for the reserve team).

That Rooney year-and-a-half was great, but now he's a goalie on a terrible team. The best part of his career is probably behind him. I supposed I'd respect him more if he just played and tried to find his next gig, but I suspect that hasn't worked out for him.

Wow, this team is a dumpster fire.

MLSSoccer.com just published its weekly power rankings and DC United is dead last. As in dead.

I wear mine, but not on game days. I don't think that United has ever won when I wore those "Blackout" tee-shirts on game day.

If it makes you feel any better they don’t win on days when you don’t wear it too.

Wasn't that Denmark? Also, I thought that team thought it was going to lose its starting keeper so they picked up Hamid, but then ended up re-signing that starting keeper so Bill became redundant before he could even say hello.

I wondered a bit why Hamid agreed to a transfer back to DCU from Denmark, given the seeming lack of high ambition on the banks of the Anacostia these recent years. Obviously he has an attachment and history here, but he might have been better served to try elsewhere. Maybe the Flores signing was taken as a sign of more player spending to come? I wonder what his agent was telling him; by the way who is Hamid's agent?

Well, Goff is reporting that we have acquired Yordy Reyna a 27 yr old Peruvian MF/F.

He makes 650k and is not starting for Vancouver. This seems very bad, but his xG per 90 is better than anyone on DC (except for Higuain's 108 minutes) which is good.

This seems to make about zero sense. Please someone tell me he is better than a deck chair.

This is DC's method of building a team: Throwing shit at the wall to see if it sticks. :(

I guess I'm in the minority here but I've always appreciated Reynas workrate and skill. I'm happy with acquiring him, tbh I think he'll work out much better then Flores, though i do think we could've gotten him for cheaper.

Lucho lite. Too little, too late, too expensive. On top of that, if they pick up his team option for next season, they have to ship Vancouver more money still. 400k in Garberbucks is a lot, and it should've been better spent. Oh well. They did get an international slot back just to get him on the team, so yeah.

We have the least of the Higuains and now the least of the Reynas. There has to be a Steve Messi or a Dave Ronaldo toiling in the USL we could drag out of obscurity into slightly less obscurity
