    ...and soccer.

Soccer in Sun and Shadow I found compelling precisely because Galeano talks I have talked, submitting the experience of moving about the globe/engaging football in a global way while lamenting, at times, the lack of beauty in he expression of the game ("A pretty move, for the love of GOD!"), and, at the same time, being totally ready adn thankful adn appreciative for the beauty that does, eventually, emerge...

Of course, Galeano has much more to say than that, and, in this interview, places many things into context, including football. Good time spent with an excellent author; I recommend his The Open Veins of Latin America: Five Centuries of the Pillage of a Continent highly.

I can't read it now (too much partying in the last three hours), but I'll read anything by Galeano, and I'll read it in due time. Thanx for the link...

From the above link, Galeano's interview is at about the 22' mark.
