I'd rather Green learn from Pep, and train with some of the best players in the world than go out on loan and miss out on some top of the line training and coaching. The lack of game time wont hurt him right now.
Man, that's a name I haven't thought of in ages. I remember when he was 16, 17 and everyone thought he'd set the world on fire. Now he's 23 and bouncing club to club as an afterthought. Talk about a fall-off.
I just want to try my best with the national team,” Green said. “I’m happy to be a part of this team. Of course, I want to be the future of the US men’s national team. But it’s all about me. I have to score goals and be good on the field.” http://www.mlssoccer.com/all-star/2...rn-munich-earning-intl-place-i-want-be-future
Eh, most good players don't spend more than a season in the reserves, if that. Kroos went out on loan... Playing in games that matter are important.
Currently in the 80th...he has a slight knock so he may get 5 mins or so. Prob just rest him so he's healthy by the all star match
Bayern has loan offers from EPL for Green! 0:20 secs. http://www.espnfc.us/video/espn-fc-tv/86/video/1968311/can-julian-green-break-into-bayern
Yeah, while I am not exactly happy with England (I would prefer Spain or Italy for Green), I am glad to know that clubs are interested in him, so I don't see Green riding pine for extended periods.
Names that should make us be patiently and cautiously optimistic about Green: Brandon Manzonelli - Villarreal - La Liga Jovan Kirovski - Manchester United - EPL Freddy Adu - DC United /Benfica - Primiera Liga Gabriel Ferrari - Sampradoria - Serie A Danny Szetela - Racing Santandar La Liga Juan Armando (or something) from New Jersey Somewhat successful but not superstars: Kenny Cooper- Manchester United Jonathan Spector - Manchester United Brek Shea (remember reports about the scouts from Man U visiting Dallas?) I am sure we have more names to add. Green's goal was great to build up hopes. I do remember a great u-20 performance by Danny Szetela, images for Ferrari on the sidelines waiting to be subbed in versus Inter Milan, Freddy Adu wonder goals, Kirovski leading Manchester United, so on and so forth. Let's hope for the best, but keep our feet on the ground!
None of those players listed scored in a world cup. None of them were lauded by their head coach either of their european side...
You're right none of those players were ever given a shot to play in a World Cup and Green got his shot and took it pretty well I may add. I don't see Green being loaned out to any mid table or relegation battling team in the EPL plus he's liable to get injured in the EPL because of how physical that league tends to be. Not saying by any means that Green can't handle it I just saying I don't think his head coach is willing to take that chance.
A goal in the WC is a goal but I would not say sweet. He miss hit it which worked to his advantage. I would love to see him get good first team playing time in a top 5 league.
He scored a very sweet goal. Intelligence. Timing. Execution on the biggest stage. I mean, I take the Ben Hogan perspective. It's a game of misses. How good are they? (How bad?) With "misses" like Julian Green's, who needs the perfect shot.
Honestly I think his dribbling, ball control is what impressed me most against Belgium. Love the goal, but I was more impressed with him at the ball as his feet. Is there a touches video or anything? Would love to rewatch it.
World Cup goal yes, but to say they weren't lauded by their managers is n exaggeration. ManU expended a lot of energy trying to get Jovan his work permit and he was praised by Ferguson (pre internet days I know). "Fergie in his 96/97 memories book mentioned Kirovski and how highly rated he was. He also talked about the work permit appeal hearings" Jonathan Spector won ManU young player of the year. yes, he was praised by Ferguson as well. Gabriel Ferrari ""Gabriel showed good movement, so much so that, with Foti currently on loan with Vicenza, it could be a safe bet to see him break through in the Serie A before the end of the season". He was called the jewel of their youth team on their website.
Well if people want to call him out of his league against Mexico/Turkey based of all .43 seconds of touches he had, lets bring the .18 seconds worth of QUALITY touches against Belgium into the spotlight.
He had more time with the ball against Mexico and Turkey than he did against Belgium. According to this he had 4 touches. 1 of which was the goal. http://resources.fifa.com/mm/docume...0701_bel-usa_usa_playerstatistics_neutral.pdf I like the potential in Green, but it's hard to extrapolate any real positives and/or negatives when he has yet to play a full 90 for any first team.
Bayern CEO Rummenigge: EPL teams made loan offers for Julian Green http://www.si.com/soccer/planet-fut...bayern-munich-julian-green-robert-lewandowski
If you don't understand the context that they were using when they made the statements, then our education system in the US is failing. They never made that statement. They said he would be a non factor at the World Cup. Just the World Cup. If you want to attack them for that, then okay. Using that as a general statement is just plain stupid. It is like a rancher saying that "We will defend ourselves from them" when referring to wolves eating livestock and someone using that headline for another use because it sounds juicy.
