Gaston worked in slaughterhouse ,just a few years ago I didnt know to much about the guy until i read this article.I have to say thats a pretty cool story and Im really hopeing this guy turns out to be a good signing. It will almost be like a little cleansing after having signed a couple of players like John and Castillo who were youth prodigies and squandered their skills. After watching some interviews with some of the new players and reading some articles Im really looking forward to this year and seeing how this particular roster gels and fares.
Speed and Fire stoking abilities...this is good stuff to know. It's also a good thing that Gaston has a good sense of humor...since Blanco left, we've definitely been missing some funny...it can help to diffuse pressure and add perspective to a team that has played a bit too uptight. I hope the boys from Uruguay can adapt quickly to MLS.
john and castillo were lazy, or at least didnt give full effort which could have been to lack of concern as well. i also got that sense from conde last season some of the guys on this years team look hungry to make the most of the chance they have been given. the fire roster may not be as talented as some, but i am really hoping the effort and team cohesion make up for it
i like The Butcher.... If he manages to become a quality player there could be some good chants in reference to him hacking and slashing the opponents defense
If Gaston pans out I can see a good tifo coming out of this... What a good match though, given Chicago's meat-packing history.
Had to bump this back up... THE MAN in the first two games, I dont think we would have those 4 points without him.
Like Ive said since pre-season, he reminds me of rolfe except a bit less technical but faster overall. Great signing.
He is looking to take the ball 'that a'way'. He jumps the lanes, gets between them and the ball and makes them take him down. I look for more 11v10 due to his style of play.
To the tune of The Band's "Up On Cripple Creek": Up On Bubbly Creek, He Spots Me Through Ball To My Feet, He Slots Me I Don't Have to Speak, He's Got Me A Butcher's Dream if I Ever Did See One...
Kinda of a stupid reason to like a player, but I love the fact that he looks like he has fun while playing. Smiling the whole game. Definately doesn't seem like he takes the fact he gets paid to play soccer for granted. Two more games like these last two and I'm ordering my "Carnicero" jersey.
I don't think last year's team had near the fun that this year's team seems to be having already, I don't think I saw last year's team smile at all was an easy club to dislike this year's looks like the exact opposite so far!
That's a fine reason to like a player, granted that he's also performing. You can't like someone if they're not likeable in the first place.
