🇪🇸 Raúl Asencio has won 100% of his duels in the last 2 games:◉ 5/5 duels won vs. Atleti ◉ 4/4 duels won vs. Man CityHe also won all 4 of his tackles, completed 95/100 passes and did not commit a single foul across both games. @Squawka pic.twitter.com/dfNkg2PjvL— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) February 12, 2025
He may have more ambition than being Nacho. He isn’t from Madrid and joined the academy when he was 13. If he’s given scraps from Carlo, that may not be enough to keep him. His contract ends in 2026.

It's called "focus" I can't believe we got so lucky this year with Asencio. However, we have to see if he'll be playing any football at all in the near future. That court case might be more serious then first imagined.
About time he got his own thread... and first Spain call-up! 🚨 BREAKING: Spain NT coach De La Fuente has decided to start calling up Raul Asencio for the NT. @diarioas pic.twitter.com/bvMDhP2YTD— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) February 12, 2025
Very happy to see Raul Asencio's performance against Atletico Madrid and Manchester City. I hope carlo no longer has any doubts about playing Raul.
Not sure why we're relegating him to Nacho level already. Maybe because he's homegrown? He's been a 9/10 so far. He's in the starting XI next year for me.
Relegating him?? Nacho was a stud. If Asencio achieves 70 percent of Nacho's accomplishments and peak ability it would be a jackpot. People who see Asencio as the new Beckenbauer based on a dozen appearances need to take it easy. Hes still raw and development is far from linear.
Don't want to be overly critical because he's been a Godsend for this team this season, but I wish he improves aerially.
That cross was out of his reach tbh. He's 6 ft and has a good leap, but taller CBs like Rudiger, Pepe will have that advantage. Ramos also 6 ft but had an insane leap.
Nacho had no weakness except being 5"11 CB. Obviously had to be a back up when there are greats like Ramos, Pepe, Varane, Rudiger ahead of you. Nacho is probably the most underrated modern RM player. Maybe coaches would have considered starting him ahead of the likes of Militao if Nacho was 6 ft.
Asencio is about as tall as Gila, we can't pair them if the latter ever comes back. And he too was about Asencio's age when he broke through Lazio's 1st team.
I know, but if Xabi comes and he plays a back 3 they'd be perfect for that, even if we do sign Saliba eventually. Playing out from the back would be so easy.
Yeah, I think athletically he can improve on that area, because he looks like a physical specimen. But for his height, it will be down to timing and telegraphing when to jump, which should come with time.
Its fine. At least it doesn't revolve around some emir or whatever. I would have named it "Asencio, with a C, for Champion"
