Yeah, exactly. Ozil was far from inconsistent. In fact, he was consistently spectacular or spectacularly consistent, whatever you like.
Who else here is somewhat underwhelmed by Arda’s dribbling? Cuz for a guy nicknamed the Turkish Messi, one would imagine he has better ability to dribble past defenders.
I wouldn't pay any mind to the "Turkish Messi" thing. For as long as I can remember, every single Turkish attacker that bursted on to the scene was called the Turkish Messi at some point. I remember Arda Turan being called the Turkish Messi when he broke through at Galatasaray at the age of 19. Arda Güler has never been a dribbler. Even in his YouTube skills videos you will barely see him dribble. It's mostly good passing, good vision and great left footed technique of course.
I never saw dribbling as a major strength of Arda. It's mostly the passing, vision, overall technique (e.g. first touch) creativity, and shooting. That combination is what makes him truly special. It's also why I believe he's way more suited to a midfield role than a wide role.
Has the vision and range for it, needs to build up the physique and stamina for it. He should never ever be on the wing.
He is not the kind of player that will take on a defender, push him back up and sit him on his ass with a feint, but he is capable of quick moves in small spaces to make room for a shot or a pass, like a little cutback or nutmeg. Mastantuono is a dribbler in the way Arda isnt with running at fullbacks, so Arda is surely going to play in the middle.
Putting him on the wing set him back and screwed with his confidence. I don't ever wanna see him there again.
Ironically Modric was a LM until Redknapp moved him to the middle when he took over Spurs. Not saying Arda is Modric, but playing the position your actually good at is important.
I think Arda has really good dribbling instincts, but he’s a little slow on the draw. Kinda like James Rodriguez. Great understanding of space, and just an intelligent player overall.
A full season of peaceful progression and plenty of game time and maybe....... maybe next summer we are talking about Arda Guler....... perma starter?? I just really want him to succeed. Don't know why, i've got a soft spot for him. I think it's because his personality reminds me a little bit of me at 19. He's just so talented, i can totally see why the club jumped in and quickly signed him, it's hard to ignore the potential here.

I am glad we are focusing on developing him. In the long run he's going to give us alot with his range of passing. He is the closest we have to a Modric. I agree with Xabi. I've also noticed that Arda is having to exert alot of energy by reacting rather than anticipating. I am happy with his hustle and tracking back though.
Very happy to read Xabi's comments on Arda. I think he hit the nail on the head with his focus on anticipation rather than reaction. If Arda can read the game better (in both offense and defense) he will level up. By a lot.

His short and medium passing and crossing is good but he rarely switches play with the long range crossfield pass like Kroos or Xabi used to do. There were a few times we got all their defence shifted over to our left and he could have hit the ball out to Trent on the right, but he kept playing it short on the left. Probably a tactical thing because the Dortmund weakness was on our left, but want to see if he has that switch of play in his locker.

Turkey has 85 million people, and about 75% of them love football according to my google search. On top of that, there are millions of Turkish people living in other countries. Those Turkish diaspora were known to be strong ties to their motherland. Even, most of them might never become true fans of the club. They will always support their local team in Turkey (or Germany for German-Turks), but being their secondary or third team still meant a lot of money. No Turkish footballer has made a significant impact on a non-Turkish super club. Guler's impact to Real Madrid will be great.
Don't really think so, you can't find a single person saying anything other than him having a bright future at the club.
Do you listen to yourself with all your pro-Carlo propaganda? Yes; Carlo was setting up Arda and Endrick to becoming World class superstars by giving them 5-15 minutes at the end of games.
