I think he could potentially be generational. Very talented. But the uproar by some against his playing time only 4 games into the season is quite bizarre. We have a potential 72 games on the season calendar this year and we just got to September.
Has there been an uproar? At this point we are all clueless as who the hell should start given the injuries
Nope but 4 games in there's certainly the Arda should start and Rodry should sit narrative from some, that's very real
For some reason I think Vini Mbappe and Arda on the right would cook. Arda is a better passer then Rodri, not sure about a better dribbler and finisher but he is a different type of profile. Ideally Arda can thread balls to Vini and Mbappe. Would love to see these 3 play a couple of games together. Don't want to see Arda in MF, given how good he on the right wing side. Depending on the opposition Carlo can rotate all 3 up top.
As a Turkish football fan I really don't know how to feel about Arda. On one hand it's pretty obvious he is a special talent with potential to be world class. Even at Real Madrid he has shown flashes of his brilliance. But on the other hand, he just doesn't show enough. Even at the Turkish NT in the last 4 games I thought he was a bit underwhelming. He wasn't bad, but he was just "fine". But I expect better than "fine" from him. And I'm pretty sure Ancelotti feels the same way, otherwise he'd be using Arda much more often. I think what Arda needs the most now is playtime week in week out. Even when he doesn't play well, he needs to keep playing every week. And obviously this is not gonna happen at Real Madrid. To play consistently at Real Madrid he needs to impress at every chance he gets and that is just too much to ask for Arda. He would need steel nerves to be able to do this. If I'm honest I think it will be better for Arda to be loaned out to somewhere he can play every week. Kinda like what happened with Brahim Diaz. And by the time Arda is back he should be ready to start from the get-go for Real Madrid. Hopefully.
Do you feel it’s an attitude thing? Like does he currently lack that “dog” attitude of taking the game to the opponent?
He's 19 years old. There was a time not too long ago where players where making their debut at that age. It's completely ridiculous to have expectations of him to be a leader, a key factor or basically anything more than an impulse. He's learning on the job right now. Also this "he needs playing time week in week out!" then these players get crushing ACL injuries in a couple years it's "hhh...how did this happen?" You need to slowly step up those players to that kind of load.
I don't think the issue is his attitude. He is always trying to be involved to the point that he can be quite naughty towards the opponents or even the ref. No, I think his main issue right now is his lack of confidence. And that stems from his lack of playtime at Real Madrid. Which leads to Arda wanting to either play it too safe (which I see him doing at RM) or try too hard (which I see him do at the NT). That's why I suggest he should play as much as possible every week. Even when doesn't do well, so that he can have an ease of mind and continue developing. And I know this isn't very realistic at Real Madrid. I kinda agree (especially the part about him still being young), but I also think you're underestimating how important playtime is for every player regardless of their age. After all, how can you expect a player to improve or get in form if he doesn't play often enough? Especially if it is affecting them mentally - which I think is the case with Arda.
He needs to be alot braver on the ball if he wants to succeed Modric. This pass back shit won't get him anywhere. We have too many players scared to fail that it makes the ordinary
Yeah, i'm even surprised so many people are married to the idea that we'll replace Kroos Modric Casemiro 1 to 1 and ride on like nothing happened. These kinds of players are 1 out of a million.
If he doesn't it because of hype like this... Things like that.. hype like that shit is poison and ruins more players than it helps ot builds.
His biggest issue right now is core strength. Pool pushed him around like a featherweight. His confidence dropped from Pool game onwards, but looked much better in 2nd half at Girona. I assume Modric must have been like that at 19 in Croatian League physically, but he couldn't get pushed around from Spurs career onwards. So Arda should work on that. Technically, he's really gifted. Kubo had a huge drop off after terriffic first half of last season as his body couldn't sustain that kind of intensity for an extended period. He's been average ever since mid season Asia Cup.
Arda has already improved his physique from last season. All he needs is to grow up and maintain working on his body. I don't worry about his lack of core strength at all.
Building muscle not only enhances athletic performance but also helps counteract the catabolic effects of intense running, which these players experience regularly. While there are diminishing returns—looking like a weightlifter could create other challenges—adding 10 pounds of muscle could greatly benefit Arda. It would aid his recovery and help him hold his ground more effectively on the pitch, reducing the risk of being overpowered during play.
I will have to say though when it comes to execution, there's been some horrible footage from the gym at both Real Madrid and other teams. Very awkwardly explosive and honestly dangerous stuff.
Last week, I made a similar comment. VJ experienced numerous WTF moments at Guler's age, yet we could see the potential in him (and Guler too). For most occasions, we exercised patience toward VJ as he refined his skills. We should give the same patience toward Guler. VJ had the advantage of Ronaldo's departure and Hazard's struggles in Madrid. However, VJ's weaknesses were frequently exposed due to the significant playing time he received as a teenager, more than anyone in recent memory. This exposure seemed to have a detrimental impact on VJ's career at one juncture. I did harbor doubts about VJ. Over the years, I criticized Carlos or Zidane for not fielding VJ enough and faulted them for playing him too much at other time. So, it will be the same story for Guler. And if Guler were Brazilian, we might exhibit more patience with his development. Brazilians frequently carry the stereotype of being naturally gifted footballers. Some of us already dismissed Guler and he only had returned from injury earlier this year. Naturally, being Brazilian could bring additional expectations and pressure for VJ. However, Guler comes from a country with a population of 85 million, and potentially many more Turks living overseas, a significant portion of whom are passionate football fans. It presents a challenge for Guler, recognized as the most talented Turkish youngster for an extended duration, and none of the other Turkish prodigy had the experience of playing for a prestigious club like Real Madrid at his age. So, he could be the ONE prodigy with the highest expectation of all-time from Turkey. Let's say he is not Brazilian, but he is not Norwegian liked Odegaard. So, he is a young player who needs to be nourish carefully.
