Full name: Ángel Fabián Di María Hernández Date of birth: 2/14/1998 Place of birth: Rosario, Argentina Height: 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in) Playing position: Winger/Attacking Midfielder --- How good is he exactly? he was alright in the u20 world cup..but i was far more impressed with maxi moralez who benfica should have gotten instead My assesment of di maria is that of a player who can play as a withdrawn striker and can roam on the left/right wings..but more so on the right. Has a good shot and pass...but how good is his dribbling? What do you think of his potential and his performances for club and country in the past youth tournement? thanks in advance!!!! Much appreciated
Re: Di Maria just signed for Benfica.. Di Maria is a very promising player, who has been instrumental in the qualification of Argentina for the Under-20/Olympics, and also in their WC victory. I think Benfica have got a great prospect there, and I'll be happy to see him develop at your club.

Re: News: Di María, cerca del Benfica Very good game today from Di Maria, considering this was his 1st game since the World Cup...
Re: News: Di María, cerca del Benfica I was impressed with him first time I saw him about 14 months ago, good to see he will develop in a good club , he may soon get a senior team call up.
Re: News: Di María, cerca del Benfica Hard to judge. Adu didn't do well on his debut, while Di Maria was quite good, and I've seen plenty of talk about how he should get a call up to the senior squad. I fear he'll be gone by next year...
Re: News: Di María, cerca del Benfica Di Maria pisses all over Adu, cant even compare. the way he runs with the ball, his off the ball movement, and his intelligence with the ball at his feet is miles ahead..even his skillset is more naturally developed. Today he was sensational. thank you for Di maria, what a ********ing talent. overshadowed by aguero, zarate, and banega..but i can see why real amdrid bided for him right after he signed for us.

I heard he played great, I have yet to see the game, but after reading this: http://goal.com/en/news/2785/know-y...-know-your-rivals-argentina-expert-happy-with This skinny alfa alfa is the boy... er man... err... Yeah he had a hatrick last week in the Portuguese league. Portuguese league you say? So what? Go check out the goals, pure class all 3!.
Great to Di Maria progressing as he is, lets hope he has a great world cup because if he does then it could go a long way to helping Argentina to win the thing, his emergence also takes some (emphasis the word some) pressure of Messi as he won't be seen as the one who must win the trophy by himself.
I remember the first time I saw Di Maria play, it was Boca vs Rosario Central and the kid was amazing. (Nos pego un baile!). I knew he was going to be something. Then of course at the Olympics he was amazing.
His golazo vs Chile in the U-20 WC is something that pops up for me. Continue watching the video and look at the move he puts on the defender. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0jNLoMZI0Y"]YouTube- Angel Di Maria[/ame]
He is our new shinning star. Whatever we do let's not start calling him the next Maradona, we know what happens when we do that...
great thread...random question...what number do you think he will be in the WC Squad, my brother wants an away argentina jersey with Di Maria on it...should I go with a #7 or #11? I am leaning towards #7...I have seen him wear 11 in the olympics, 8 in some friendlies but thats Veron's, so I think 7...what do you guys think
