Oh okay. Well I don't doubt it just that you know quite typical for celebrities to wear jerseys and shout their support and all but I was just curious if he's known to visit Denmark often or see your boys play.
Not in this case... he has said openly many times that he support Denmark and Argentina, and he has also traveled abroad to watch Denmark play, when he has a break in shooting a film, so it's not just the usual media stunt...
He is also a Danish citizen and speak Danish flawlessly despite not being born in Denmark and only visiting the country in short vacations from time to time.
Thanks. That's outstanding. I don't hear a heavy Danish accent when he speaks. I visited Copenhagen a few years back and years before that, some Swedish friends would tease me that you Danes speak as if you have a potato in your throat. That's really interesting about him. I heard he did a Spanish/Argentinian film years ago. Do you know if he's had any involvement in Danish films/tv?
He is speaking a flawless but a bit old-fashioned Danish, but with no hint of foreign accent.... he has been talking about being in a Danish movie, but so far it has not happened.. But there are lots of Danish and Danish/American actors out there, doing jobs abroad.
Just to name a few ... Scarlett Johansson (Do not speak Danish, but has a Danish citizenship and a Danish passport), Hayden Christensen (Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars), Michael Madsen (Kill Bill, Sin City, Reservoir Dogs) and Virginia Madsen, Leslie Nielsen (who now has passed away), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal Lecter in the Hannibal TV series).
Michael Madsen? I never would have guessed. Oh I always figured Scarlett was Swedish due to the -son and not -sen but I figure loads of Swedes/Danes have either surnames. I know about Nikolaj and Mads probably has to be my favorite Danish actor. Flame & Citron, Green Butchers. Glad to see him getting success in Hollywood. Thanks.
The -son names are usually Swedish but could also be from the other Scandinavian countries... the -sen is of Danish origin, but canalso be found in Norway because Norway used to be under Danish rule, so people moved around between the two countries, much more than it otherwise would have been the case in the 16th and 17th century...
... but generally speaking, Norwegians were mainly named after the farm they came from, while Danes were named -sen in honor of their parents or grand parents.. so the use of -sen is way more common in Denmark.
... but on the other hand you don't need a -sen or -son name to be of Danish or Swedish descent ... Jessica Alba's mother is of Danish ancestry, just as Jamie Lee Curtis is of Danish ancestry on her mothers side (Janet Leigh, who btw also was an actress), while Uma Thurman is the first cousin of the Swedish soccer player Max von Schlebrügge.
