Those are stellar! I don't know how I missed this new line. PDS don't have a section for them on their site, you have to search for them. The black and yellow are calling me out!
Yeah, I did the search as well. They are pretty awesome, I am really pleased with the Pantofola brand in general from a visual standpoint. They have some class products. I suppose it might be too much to hope for an HG Lazzarini in whiteout or blackout.
Haha! Let me know if you go for a pair, would love to know what you think of the Lazzarini's. I saw some Cruyff boots for the first time in a local store, amazing boots!
I am loving a few of new the Cruyff models - the HG Match on PDS is lush and so are the white Hattrick. I do wonder who makes them. I have a suspicion it is either Ryal or Akuna based on some of the outsoles in FG, but the SG plate is similar to Pantofola, which share roots with Akuna. It does my head in to try and figure it out.
The original Cruyff boots were Lazzarini made boots, but since then Lazzarini's original shop split into Pantofola and Akuna - both claim the same heritage up to the 90's. It seems the original shop/factory closed up for a bit and some of the workers created Akuna, while at the same time someone affiliated with the original shop helped keep Pantofola alive.
Pantofola as a brand got a bigger financial backing and a more commercial notoriety. It is very confusing. I don't think the Lazzarini family is directly involved with either company now - I could be wrong on that- but both companies seem to have legit rights to claim a bit of the heritage of the original Lazzarini shoes.
For what it is worth, pro players in Italy seem to go for Akuna more than Pantofola - see Akuna's links with Baggio, Totti, and Di Canio. Not sure if the current Pantofola while being quality is a bought name vs. Akuna having the real staff left over from the original Lazzarini shop.
Here are some old Cruyff's by Lazzarini and some old Lazzarini made boots. Not much different than what Cruyff, Akuna, or Pantofola make today. I need to go to that corner of Italy one day.
