Gerrard played and one of Xabi and Masch sat out. So that should say enough about how Rafa rates Gerrard. The problem was, Keane wasn't upto scratch and was shipped out. The rest of the players you named simply show how poor your argument is. Rafa has to pick from these two line-ups essentially: Torres-Gerrard-Masch and Xabi or Torres and Voronin/Cisse/Crouch/Keane - Gerrard-Masch It's pretty clear which one helps the team out the best. Gerrard scores as many goals as the players you mentioned, yet Xabi is also a quality playmaker from the middle. It doesn't mean Gerrard is not a good one, get it? I hope so.

Also, I know that Lucas isnt a DM and neither is Palacios. In fact, both those players can play right midfield/left midfield to some effect. My main query was you saying that Palacios is a creative central midfielder when he is more like Masch than Xabi. Let's hopefully agree on most other discussions to avoid clogging up the threads with our disagreements ;) We clearly have different views on most things that have been recently discussed but I'll try and be more clear with my posts to avoid any confusion such as what just happened.
If you interpreted that what i said was an attack on you, then i apologise. By "other supporters" i meant those that create "sack Rafa" threads after a Chelsea win and only come here to post after losses. From all your posts, you dont seem like one of those plastic supporters. I'll seperate my Masch/Palacios sentence into two. Firstly, i said that spending the same amount on Palacios as we did on Masch (18 mil) is ludicrous, especially when he would be a back-up player. The second part of the sentence says that we dont have the money of, eg; the Mancs, therefore we cant spend say 15-18 million players like Nani/Anderson or upwards of 30 million on Tevez. Those 3 players would not be considered starters in their best XI, therefore you could generally term them "squad players". That's all i meant from that paragraph. Look at the sentences as two seperate sentences. Maybe if i seperated them into two paragraphs it would be easier but I thought the 1st sentence was fairly clear.
