You guys thinking about coming up for the 3/19 game at WakeMed? I'm hoping to convince our FO to hold it on the main field rather than one of the side ones, and if you are it might help for me to mention that.

Hey Mikey, Justin Evans has been sighted. He's married and playing for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. He's on facebook if you want to catch him (or if you already know, sorry for the lateness) Regards, Sandshark

You probably saw Jarrett's PM about the southern derby. FYI, here was my reply back to him, I just don't see the logistics working out:

      "Hey Jarrett,
My reply will probably come off sounding negative so I'll start off by saying I'd be open to any ideas. However......I'm skeptical. Here's why. The beauty of the current setup is we use the existing season schedule. With teams from different leagues, here are potential stumbling blocks, IMO. Unbalanced schedule. We sometimes scrimmage Charlotte and sometimes Wilmington but not always every year. And to ask clubs to schedule exhibition games just to satisfy the Southern Derby is asking a lot....at least on my end. And if the clubs were to somehow get the scheduling worked out, I don't know how many people you have for preseason scrimmages but here, it's only a handful. I'm not overly fond of having the SD played out before a sprinkle of fans in stands. Plus, there are no services....no concessions, no bathrooms, no staff, etc. Our club, while fully supporting the SD, make most of their decisions based on profitibility, so, I can see them having concerns.

The intent of the SD was to help us build and nurture rivalries so including teams from other leagues that we normally don't face seem a little pointless.

I hope that didn't sound too negative, it's just my off the cuff opinion...like I said, I'm open to ideas and suggestions. But I'm somewhat of a purist, I want rivalries but I prefer not to have them manufactured.

As to you winning the cup every year, you can forget that now that your black magic warlock coach is gone! He had some pact with the devil. :D"

It was nice to meet you. I was also pleased to learn you are a fellow Airman. Your team showed alot of heart and your supporters' group showed alot of class. Hope your ride home was safe. Good luck to you in the rest of your USAF career and to your team for the rest of the USL-1 term.

      Yours,

      Doug Rhodes, MSgt, USAF (Ret)

I excepted you as a friend on BS. I think I did it right. Man, what a game. I watched the whole think on my computer while reading the Fire/DCU matchtracker. My wish for a Fire/Battery final went down the drain with the Fire loosing. Also, the red card on Lazo was stupidity IMO. What was he thinking? Is his temper getting the best of him? Now, instead of helping his team winning a big tournament, he'll be on the bench.
