Beautiful goal by Petit makes 2-0. Nice to see the warrior get one as he's been having a tough year.

Notice how Luisao gave Petit the high five before he was subbed. :D

Great free kick by BM and an even better save by Quim.

Karyaka show shis ability to look at the note once and memorize everyone's assignments as he chooses not to take it with him unto the field.

Once again Mantorras had the note!!!!

Could this be due to a language barrier?

This was an amazing game to watch if you are a Benfica fan.

Benfica came out guns blazing and they look like they wanted to solve this game soon. Beira-Mar came in looking for a tie or perhaps score in the counter attack. Benfica had 68% ball possession at half time but the score was still 0-0. We had lots of chances, but we were unable to score, the time we did, Nuno Gomes was offside. Also in the first half Torrao should have seen a second yellow and then red for a studs first tackle on Miguelito, but the ref (the linesman asked for the yellow) decided it wasn't deserving.

Second half starts with Benfica pressing and they would not have to wait long. 52nd minute Katsouranis scores on a header, after a nice move from Nelson he gets free of his opponent and crosses it in for Katsouranis (free of marking) put it in. A couple of minutes later, another nice play by Nelson see him finding Petit, this one comes in the box and puts in the far left corner, no chances for Aleh. The third goal comes from a cross by Luisao, who beat the offside trap to appear alone in the box with the ball, crosses it and Ricardo trying to clear it, places it in his own net. Buba still saw a second yellow card and red for kicking the ball after the ref had called for a foul.

In conclusion, Benfica dominated this game. It was a one way game with Beira-Mar having only one shot on goal in the second half. It was all Benfica.

    Best Performances:

Katsouranis, another great game. He seems to be getting better with everygame that goes by. He scored and he was a very important player today.

Nelson, he is playing amazing......this is his second game that reminds me of the Nelson i saw last year before the injury.

Miccoli, he didn't score but oh boy was he a handfull. Him and Nuno play extremly well together.

Miguelito, he looked a bit nervous, but he settled down and played a very good game.

The question begs to be asked.....WHOSE NEXT?

p.s. Is it me or does Jardel look like he is a sprint away from a heart attack?

Good order regarding the best performers. I also noted Luisão very well (3 rd goal play) and the way Nuno Assis worked with the defense, specially with Miguelito and in the second half.
About FS, I think Petit left the game rather early....
We are scoring like mads. Very good start from the strikers. Maybe because we have more quality in the bench....

Thanks for the recap. I only got to see the goals because it was either this match or the Revs taking on DC for a trip to the MLS Cup.

I thought Benfica had Sporting Lisboned away their confidence after losing to FC Anderson in the final minute of injury time?

You lost and will still be demoted. How's that?

BTW does your computer have a virus? Seems like when Benfica loses your comments come faster:p :p

Oh I forgot you have a life. Right:eek:

This sums up the game perfectly. Everyone had a good performance, and I say Katsouranis was the player of the game, although most of them could be named the player of the game.
