Hmmm.... With his performance at World Cup and Reading's 1st 7 matches, he have made an impact with helping Reading being successful but last 2 games with him out of lineup, they clearly missed his playmaking abiliities and presence. Now, I wondder what he is like, when he is 100% fit.... Close to being a world class? Readiing played more like CCC team last 2 matches but before that, more like Premiership team. What do you think?

Very unfortunate. Professional teams just don't have the luxury of keeping players out until they're completely healed and healthy. And because of that, Convey will probably be up and down all season long, as his knee will never have the chance to fully heal. He'll be spending a lot of time with ice and pain killers.

I think playing Chelsea and Arsenal in those two games might just have been a small factor.

Convey's better than Hunt, no doubt, but he hasn't really found his feet yet in the premiership.

True, but they do miss his dangerous free kicks. They have looked far less threatening on set pieces since he went down.

I thought Convey didnt play this past weekend because of his fitness level? I guess his knee is worse then they lead us to believe.

Thanks for the link I overlooked it, Sound like he needs to sit out a lot more then a few days, Knee injury might get worse if he keeps playing on it, Are the Docs in europe really good?

Luckily Reading have gotten off to a good enough start that they can afford to allow their key players to take time getting back from injury. Thats beneficial both for them and for the US as well with regards to Convey, no need to push things and make them worse, so thanks Reading :)

Correction, mid-table clubs, like a Reading, West Ham, ect. don't have the luxury to sit these players out because of depth issues whereas a Chelsea, Man U, and Arsenal can. But you are right it might be a long season physically for Convey which puts him in jepordy for the Gold Cup and/or Copa (provided we go). Reading are going to rely heavily on the strength of their squad down the stretch of the season. In my opionion its best if he rests now and takes his time while it's still early in the season. The last thing Reading needs is for a key player to go down for a long period of time.

I rarely post in Yanks Abroad, but lurk here a lot. I have become a fan of Convey's play and development after being not so much of a fan fo a while.

When looking at his upcoming club and country schedule I wonder if this might be a long year for him again and if he should try to get this injury healed 100% before playing again since if he keeps playing it will probably persist?

He will be busy at Reading until May and could play major minutes for the US next summer (trying to impress a new coach) depending on if the US plays both tournaments (Gold Cup, Copa America) and who gets called in. That should leave him just a few weeks rest before training begins for next season. Then next season, 2007-2008, will bring with it the beginning of world cup qualification.

I just hope he has the opportunity to take care of this injury properly since his schedule will be very demanding. I would hate to see Convey's game and development stunted by a long term, nagging injury that never goes away.
