USC falls to UK in double overtime, 1-0. Awful loss on the road. Makes things interesting though.

From the game report sounds like a hard fought game by both sides with UK getting the winner in the 105th minute. USC should be in good shape though with the next couple of games, FIU (who they always beat) and Marshall.

I have not seen any threads on the beloved Ian Collins

He must have been in rare form at the USC usa conf double OT GAME

that would be a great video with sound for the boys poker night but I would not want my 10 year old to hear this one.

USC wins 1-0 over FIU tonight. Goal by Jeff Scanella, assisted by David Smith.

USC has got FIU'S number there is no doubt in my mind. Good win regardless.

Dating back to last season, the Gamecocks are 22-4-2 in their last 28 matches. Big couple of games coming up on the road -- Saturday at Marshall and next Wednesday at #1 SMU.

Although Marshall has dropped five straight heading into this weekends match, USC suffered their only loss in CUSA play last season at home against the Thundering Herd, despite outshooting Marshall 23-9.

Everyone knows how tough the game at SMU will be!!!

    Should be interesting!

USC falls 2-1 to Marshall, from what I hear, it was a ridiculous field. I don't know, but a good opportunity to bounce back against SMU on wednesday.

This is a bad loss for the Cocks. Marshall is 4-7. I have heard that Marshall field sucks. Well we will see if the Cocks can rise to the occassion against SMU!!!

No excuses, home field advantage just a tad though. What a goal, definitely a wonder goal. Seems familiar to another goal from last year.....UNCW

WOW what a great strike. Nine times out of 10 I bet he puts that ball over the bar by 30 ft ,or shanks it, or whiffs it. But he could not have struck it any cleaner. Beautiful goal

1-1 tie in Dallas between USC and SMU. USC scored late in the 89 minute by Ayo Akinsete. Decent road result.

Does USC have what it takes this year to advance deep in the NCAA's?? I know in the past they've had some pretty talented teams, but never advanced very far.

Any potential MLS prospects on the team?

Well that is a question for the ages regarding USC advancing deep into the NCAA's. USC has struggled to get out of the 1st or 2nd round in a long time. We will see maybe this will be the year.

Let's hope they get the opportunity to play in the NCAA's, this group is definitely talented, I think more talented than the past few teams and it is the question how will they perform in the most important games??

As far as MLS prospects, definitely some on the team, including some of the younger ones.

How come the attrition rate is so high with Assistant coaches at USC? Do they all turn into head coaches? I know the past few haven't, what's the deal with that?
Or is that just a common theme in college soccer?

Whats the word on Tulsa this year? Will USC be able to hold onto Conf. USA title?

Cocks lose to UAB 3-2 in 1st round of Conference Tournament. It sounded like USC played a man down for 30 minutes. USC was out shot 20-10. Well USC should get an at large berth. Let see if they can get the monkey off the back and win a 1st round match in NCAA Tournament.

I'm hoping for the at large, but it is still questionable at this point. Some bad losses might cost them. We'll see soon.

This is the schedule, opponent, result and most recent RPI ranking **Prior to both the results of a loss to tulsa and loss to UAB in conference Tourny.

    08/28/06 at Wofford W, 2-0 181
    09/02/06 at William & Mary W, 1-0 60
    09/05/06 vs. Centenary W, 3-2 184
    09/08/06 vs. Temple W, 1-0 167

    10/14/06 at Marshall L, 2-1 144
    10/18/06 at SMU T, 1-1 2
    10/21/06 vs. UCF W, 2-1 92
    10/28/06 at Tulsa L, 1-0 97
    11/01/06 vs. UAB L, 3-2 72

As you can see even though I also thought an at large bid was a given, it doesn't seem so cut and dry. Some bad results against some poorly rated teams, and the wins, although many, against primarily weak teams...hopefully they can get a bid, and I still think they will, but based on the numbers and their ranking of a 40 RPI prior to the two losses means it will be a sit and wait event on monday.

On paper it doesn't look like they "should" be in. Their schedule is average at best. Poor results and wins that weren't important to the national picture. However with the tradition of the program and the facilities may give them a chance.

Unfortunately my vote is that they shouldn't be in. (not that it means anything)

thought i would check in after seeing that the soccercocks lost to UAB. sorry for the guys on the team. Haven't followed the team other than checking scores and an occasional shot at bersen. For those of you new and the old ones still following---I don't like bersen. even if he has changed a little from the several years me and Buttman raged war on him, I still don't like him. Enough of the history lesson.

Do they make it to the NCAA. If they do then old Marky boy will have to get on his knees----and it isn't to pray. He has been known to suck up and get an invite in the past. He may have to take on the big one to get in this year.

on the face of it, their record is about two wins short. Their regualr season placement is what 4th. they get knocked out in the first round of the conference tourny. Come on, there are plenty of at large candidates that should be looked at before USC.

I guess we will just have to wait and see what old marky has to do in order to dance in the NCAA

With the loss to UAB it doesn't appear that SC will get an at large bid. I suppose they are still on the bubble but to me the bubble has burst.
