Did any volunteers go sit in the rain and watch this one yesterday? I suspect it was quite a muddy affair...
couldn't go cause i was getting my prom hair and makeup done (LOL) but i heard we won 3-2 and that heather o was impressive
I heard a little from a friend who attended. I can't believe the scrimmage wasn't cancelled. It was storming all night before and during the game. He didn't know most of the U21 players but said they were impressive and Heather O'Reilly was dominant for them. He arrived late but heard she scored the first U21 goal. Didn't know the name of the player who scored the second. He said the C-Rays looked fine in light of the awful playing conditions. I think Pretinha, Katia, and Katie Barnes scored in that order. Dawn Greathouse was in goal the whole time. The Brazilians didn't play the full match. Ann Cook started in midfield. Michelle French played the second half. Some of the other bench players got playing time. I'm sorry I don't have more details. I got the impression that the awful weather impacted the game and that the C-Rays controlled more of the play and generally looked good. I want to add that I think it's great the volunteers got invited to the scrimmage. They work hard at the games and deserve the thanks.
Ah, what's a little mud? Seriously, I guess the conditions weren't deemed "dangerous" and so the game went on. Soccer in the mud is usually really unattractive, however, because precision passes on the ground are next to impossible. Thanks for the report!
No mud. The match was moved at the last minute from West Valley College to the field at Evergreen Valley College, which as artificial turf. I was told that the rain was heavier at West Valley. And though it did rain through much of the match, we folded up our unbrellas towards the last 15 minutes or so of the match. As RB1 indicates, Heather's play was impressive. I don't know most of the other U21s but she did stand out. It was good to see French out there. She also had a good game. Katia and Pretinha gave the U21s a dribbling lesson. --Socceroo
