Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? I don't think any of these are unreasonable. Most of them are ugly, some are just plain atrocious.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? id love to see dr pepper thatd be awesome
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? I don't mind this one. We can always say "FCD and South West....Nothing but Salty Nuts."
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? True. Except that in this case the short term revenues have already been covered by the new TV contracts signed by Disney and Univision.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? FCD already has a deal with American Airlines.... doubt SW will be an option.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? I'm thinking Del's Lemonade or maybe The Abbey.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? I LOVE that idea! I just can't get used to this whole idea to begin with. I realize the benefits but don't really like it. If it helps the MLS - than YAY!
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? Well, it probably won't be Mattress Giant...
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? Pizza Hut just cause they have the naming rights to the stadium so they'll try to get it for the shirt too. Good luck on finding one
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? I hope its Target just to make the shirts really confusing.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? abilenecosmos --- "Target" really set me off but I'll be brief [hopefylly] Target sponsoed the Minn. Thunder A-League a coupla years ago anyway so they've at least heard of soccer [also hdqtrs in Minn] yeah! the red and white hoops geometry would be arresting with Target logo and the adidas curves however. The Target BULL TERRIER [in their ads] is my main pont. That breed is fearless! FBOW! for better or worse The love of my life was 1/2 boxer 1/2 bull terrier --- one time he and I were watching a thundertorm from the back door and LIGHTNING STRUCK in the alley, right there! My dog, who coincidentally happened to be named for Shaka the Zulu warrior, ran out at astonishing speed intending to bite the lightning. and gentle: like, a first-grade class walking through the neighborhood single file behind their teacher --- without slowing down, each kid reached out his or her hand and touched him as walked past --- Shaka accepted the affection calmly, if with a bit of regal disdain. hmmm I forget what's the topic of this thread ? oh yeah let's FCD be the optical illusion Target FCD hoop terriers '96-ers Toros Terrier-Ohs! [Spuds Mackenzie was a variation of bull terrier] did I tell you 'bout the time neighborhood kid 6th-grader Andrew jumped to contest a header vs. Shaka [nickname: Shockers Sept 10 1990 - Nov 24 2002 R.I.P.] and empathetic!: but I said I'd be brief anyway Boston College and Wichita State have the best possible mascot nicknames so we'll just either have to copy them or settle for something lesser
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? So, we're halfway there? 1/3 of the way there? That's cool.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? FCD's sponsor? Carlos' favorite: Hooters.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? Well, I think the biggest issue with fans of the sport like that are struggling with two issues - the perception and the reality of the quality of play. Why didn't MLS spend millions upon millions to hype up their league early on? (Part of it was because it was costing them an arm and a leg to get the games on television in the first places.... but also) Because you'd get people out to games based on the hype and then they would see that the soccer was okay but not great - certainly not compared to other top leagues around the world - and they wouldn't come back. Basically, what happened to WUSA. So the solution is to raise the quality of play and at the same time raise the hype of the league. That should happen with the new television deal and the fact that Univision and ABC/ESPN will want to hype the league some. Of course, for some, you'll never overcome the prejudice of "my home league is better." But let's get the majority of folk who follow the USMNT that don't follow MLS right now into MLS and go from there.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? Until MLS is completely in SSS, there will be losses. And remember, MLS has a lot of work to do in terms of player development. So even here there is more investment to be done. So on something like this where you're talking half a mil per team - not exactly loose change - it is money worth talking about.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? I'm sure that for the most part, an advertizer won't want a jersey to look ugly, so they will work with the team to have it look decent.
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? Yeah, like Blackburn Rovers new kit with the gawdawful "Bet 24" logo on the front. They went from having the sharpest kits in the Prem to one of the worst just by virtue of the terrible sponsorship logo. http://www.rovers-store.com/images/products/BR0265____ROY_B.jpg
Re: What sponsor would you want on the front of our shirts? Not to mention their sponsor will probably have to with draw with the new online gambling "ban" that just passed here in the states....
