Finally got to see the match. I was very impressed, it was a very good team effort. A well played and deserved win...You could see at the end Diarra was getting very frustrated.

Bref, Bravo l'OL ^^

Congrats to you guys. That was a very impresive performence from l'OL. You deserved the win. Even on a higher score than 2 - 0.

Ole Ruud Van Nistelroy, a player who'd never consider coming to Lyon, had very few decent chances at goal. The Lyon defense stopped him good. Muller played great and I was surprised he started instead of Squilacci.

They didnt boo Diarra when he touched the ball. There was a huge 'Thank you Dillja' banner that some fans had. It was a complete love fest and I think he was disapointed by that.

I think it's only fair to cheer an ex player when he's winding down his career and moves to a lesser club.... :p

Lyon fans are so passive that it seems they wont boo any ex players unless they go to St. Etienne.

I cheer for Ajax and Barca, but Lyon are probably the most fun team in the world, if not Barca.

just watched the game and i just have to say that Cannavaro is Govou's bitch. :D Great match by Lyon. This was the first time i got to see them all year and i was impressed. Loved how Juninho fouled diarra 45 seconds into the game, and again 3 mins in. Wonder if that was just a random occurance. ;) Fred with 'cheeky' (goal as the english would say) just set the tone of the match. When Malouda nearly scored of that header i spilled ice tea all over my shirt. Im happy i didnt have any left, because when the commentator said Real's backline were playing like schoolboys, i probably would have spilled it again. Its games like this that'll make me love this game til my dying days.

I'm fine with them not jeering Djilla. We have class. No need to boo a guy who did well for us. By booing, it sends a message that we need/miss him. Clearly, we aren't in that mode. We've moved on, as the 2-0 scoreline would suggest.

No need to boo a guy when we don't skip a beat without him.

impeccable, i was shocked by how poorly cannavaro played though. as of two months ago, one could argue he was the best center back in the world. the way cris played (and muller for that matter as well, a pleasant surprise) this morning, he was unequivocally the superior defender. a phenomenal team effort. I was also, in particular, impressed with toulalan's composure. I wasnt sure how he'd hold up in a big champions league match, but he consistently made quick, smart passes. bravo, and abidal was an absolute monster on that left wing. neither beckham nor reyes could outfox him. If it werent for a few errant passes, I would've given him the nod for MOM. And Juni, words cant describe what he means to this club, orchestrating the offense with such ease, and those audacious freekicks! Phenomenal match. ALLEZ L'OL!

An impressive performance from Lyon, totally outclassing Real Madrid. Lyon should have won by at least 4 goals! Lyon have pace that Real did not have. And Lyon's passion for winning the match was evident throughout.

oh, not really. and generally ex-players get a hearty cheer when they're introduced.

and gerland was much more sporting than i would have been, there were banners saying thanks djila and good luck, and he got the love he wanted, even if he didn't deserve any imho.

diarra got him first though i think. in any case it was just lovetaps. the real fighting was between RC and cris. ils s'aiment d'amour, c'est sûr!

    oh, the poor little thing....

i wonder what GH said to him at the end of the match. maybe he said he'd buy him an ice cream cone.

Cannavaro like most Italian defenders is a piece of the Italian defending puzzle, take him out of the puzzle and he will not be as good. He , like many before him is overrated.

very good observation. but you can go farther, much farther. it's not just italian defense but defense period that's that way. and as dupond & dupont (the thompson twins) would say je dirai encore plus: football is that way. beckham's long passes and crossing finding RVN's magic touch looks unbeatable on paper, but was laughable on the field last night. but on the other side, jeremy toulalan was totally outclassed all night and it didn't even show, because he had a team around him not letting him get in too deep. toulalan has only been with us a couple of months, but the team around him has been in place for years.

Sorry for the lateness, but im sure that there are other games that you will want to see: Very near to Earls Court there is a large pub called the '3 famous kings' or 'the famous 3 kings'. it is right next to one of the stations around earls court ( i forget which, but you can google it.) In this pub they have about 100 tv screens, and show literally every match from around the world. they will have the french league matches, all the champions league matches, everything, so drop by for all your footballing needs.

It's good that way so when teams get arrogant you take the opportunity to demolish them. Ergo what happened last night.
