i think its gonna be the 3-5-2 still Magee, Moreno Digi, Mathis, Ziadie Williams, Clark Regan, Pope, Jolley(who should be captain in my opinion) Timmy Howard feel free to post your line-up and make me look dumb, cause its gonna happen anyways dre
I have not kept track of the Metros in training has Mathis recovered from his hernia? I thought he had a hernia operation. You can walk out of the hopital right after it now a days, but it hurts and you need time to recover from it. Then you have to train to play. Was there enough time to do all that so he is ready to start now today?
Mathis has been playing and will start in the midfield (per Bradley on MSG Talk of Our Town). I like Dre's lineup, however, I think Bradley will push Clark up to team with Mathis as two attacking midfielders. To counter Cbus' speed he'll have Ziadie and Digi drop to play a little deeper. Effectively we'll play a 5-3-2.
Ives is calling for: 4-4-2, Howard, Ziadie, Pope (C), Jolley, DiGiamarino, LeBlanc, Williams, Mathis, Clark, Magee, Moreno.
According to email: Howard Jolley Pope Ziadie Addo Williams Clark Moore Mathis Magee Moreno Although I see: Howard Jolley Pope Ziadie Williams Clark Digi Mathis Moore Magee Moreno
http://www.metrostars.com/metronews/submissions/2003/april/04112003v3.htm Based on that predicted lineup, I say we see a box midfield with Clark moving up more into the attack: ...............Moreno.....Magee............... ..............Clark...........Mathis............. ..............Williams......Moore............... ...Digi.......Jolley........Pope.......Ziadie.. ....................Howard.....................
I don't see it. Moore seems to have barely gotten any time at all in the preseason - and there is more speculation and rumors about him losing his place on the team than there is about him starting. Addo is useful off the bench, but you really think he's going to start the game on the outside against the speedsters Columbus has out there? No way. The lineup that Pan Vistula communicated from Ives is the same lineup that we started with against Rochester last week, and I think it's probably what we're gonna see.
Has Bradley played/practiced with a box midfield? I am sure previous Metrostars teams have not played with this kind of midfield. It would be interesting to look for that in this game to see if he does use it. Look for no true wingers. So the flank space should be open until some one uses that space. Like the dribbler, like a back and even a mid. Also look for the opponent to attack our flank during transition.
