Wow, that must be a weird, weird feeling for him. I wonder if he's ever gotten up and spoken in front of strangers before. Look at the terror on his face!

    (I keed, I keed.)

I used to come on these boards to find news and insight that the regular news outlets had missed. No it's mostly just stupid threads like this one. Too bad.

What are you so sour about?

    A. I personally enjoy watching MLS games, i schedule every saturday around ESPN2 or FSC's broadcast of the game.

    B. No soccer is much worse than "bad" soccer, and MLS isnt bad soccer. It just gets a lot of shit from people who don't want to see Americans good at everything. Once we win a world cup, there really isn't anything left for us to dominate, except maybe olympic diving... Chinese are pretty damn good at that.

Oh and hockey... whatever, we get sun.

youre a moron.... there were NO independent owners back when the league started.... count your lucky stars that people like uncle phil, lamar and the Krafts have stuck in this league for the long haul...

i suppose you want all individual owners like Ken Horowitz in Miami.... great financial strategy...

    enjoy some negative rep...

I guess I shouldn't be surprised - but it is still amazing what some people will complain about.

No. The problem is that you are making the "perfect" the enemy of the "good." I suspect that you are the only poster in the thread who would be happier if MLS went down and would rather have nothing than what we have.

I guess that's your right - to make that value judgment and feel that way. But if you really do feel that way, why would you want to waste your time on an MLS N&A forum?

    :D

I personally don't care for Uncle Phil's politics. But. As a business/investor, I am happy that he took the risk that he did on soccer biz in the US. For those that believe that somehow the MLS's SEM and ownership is just "wrong, wrong" for soccer....hey...it's America. You always got the other ice cream flavor: USL. :D I will keep my MLS flavah, youse guys take your money and time to USL. Isn't America great?

I still remember this journalist at our local newspaper (a guy from North Texas) telling me that he wished MLS would end so our players could do better in the World Cup. Surprised, I asked, how would that help the USMNT? He said, "Like we used to: College!" Some people just......

I "waste my time" because I'm passionate about the game and I want soccer to succeed in this country. What I'm tired of are so called MLS fans that wear these rose colored glasses and think that this league is the best in to world, and that it doesn't need to be fixed, and that anyone who criticizes it is immediately labeled a Euro-snob.

I've been to plenty of Fire matches, and paid money for gear, trips, and MLS TV. But nothing changes, year after year it's always the same garbage. I'm glad the Fire have their own stadium now, but so what? They're rubbish of the highest order. Even when they win they win ugly. Think I'm wrong? Go check out some of the hate posts on Section 8's site. I’m not wasting any more money on an inferior product.

And so in the case of AEG, well, they may have kept the league running, but seeing how the league isn't much better, the good players want to leave, and the ones that stay aren't that good, I don't see what good they've actually done.

People can have their opinions, I don't care. But come on L.A. or Chicago fans, tell me you wouldn't want your own owner who actually knows a thing or two about the sport??

I'll take "Generalizations That Get Blown All Out of Proportion" for $200, Alex.

Well, there you have it. Can't argue with that.

Alright, even though total numbers makes no sense if you're trying to run attendance smack. Go on with your bad self.

And if you're not trying to run attendance smack, I'd refer you to ElJefe.

    Menso.

Just for fun, please link to ONE LOUSY POST where anyone on this board ever said MLS is the best in the world.

    Talk about straw men.....

Actually, we in LA already have our own owner. His name is Phil Anschutz. :) And as long as he has very deep pockets, and hires people who do know about soccer to run the club, I don't care what he knows about the game. Do you really think that Roman Abromovitch is a soccer-wise owner?
