Trezeguet supposedly signed a new contract with Juve so I guess that takes him off the market. There arent many top tier strikers left who are available.

There will be a new forward signed before Aug. 31th because Lacombe said so and he said he isnt French. I think I read that reports out of Argentina are saying that Carlos Tevez will sign. He's never played in Europe but he's a big enough name that all Europeans know and he will get the fans excited I think.
All the people on the Lyon board on Olweb who say they dont need another striker are just a bunch of clueless kids. You think when Liverpool signed Dirk Kuyt their fans said "oh we dont need him because we have Crouch, Bellamy and Fowler" Of course they didnt ! I laugh at the idiots on olweb who start threads saying they dont need a new attacker because they have Fred, Carew and Benzema. Big clubs dont have that mentality you know.

Because Lyon is hell-bent on 4-3-3, I have to wonder where Tevez would fit. Can he play on the right or left wings? He's not the ideal target striker.

Not sure why Ronaldo would sign with Lyon when Real Madrid turned down a bid from Milan for him and Milan have much more money than Lyon does. I know its very early but Benzema has more goals than Fred and Carew I think. That is interesting.

    Utaka towards Lyon?

Lyon could recruit before the end of the weekend John Utaka, the attacker Nigerian of Rennes.

Always, the search for an attacker, the Olympic Lyonese would have thrown his reserved on the attacker of the Stage Of Rennes John Utaka. The international Nigerian, who has evolved/moved in Brittany for two seasons, found the way of the nets with eleven recoveries in 28 meetings the last year. The file could be concluded before the end from the weekend.

i dont care if he's a big name striker or not just as long as he compliments the team well. big egos are a problem any way. 11 goals out of 28 appearances? thats just shy of a goal every 2 games. doesnt sound too shabby...

6 of those were in 2 matches... 5 out of 26 doesn't sound good.

This isn't a move that really boosts OL's chances in CL. We need someone with a proven track record in CL play.

What about David Trezegeut? he is a french national player after all, it would make sense for him to play for the top French team but it seems you guys left it too late...

Another good player is Diego Forlan at Villareal, he was linked with Barca before and for the right price Villareal would probably let him go. Also Javier Saviola is unwanted at Barca....

I like the odds of Tevez in Lyon. The reason being that Lyon seem to want him a lot more than the other teams he's linked with. ManUtd and Milan are linked with him but they dont seem to be making a hard enough effort to sign him. They seem content with what they already have while Lyon seem more desperate to add him as they want another attacker.

Lyon keep getting linked with theses big-name players and none of them ever end up signing. Trezeguet, Van Nistelrooy, now Tevez. No knock on Lyon, because I enjoy watching them play, but I think the perception still exists that the French League is not worth these players' time and that will be very hard to get around. If Lyon win the CL that will be the best thing they can do to increase their chances of bringing world-class players to France.

It doesnt matter. Benitez is a much better manager and tachtician than Houllier.

honestly, signing trez would have been a good thing, but that's not the spot we're poorest in: fred/carew/benzema is likely imo to be a great striker pool, at least good enough to try out until january.

the big regret for me is camoranesi, but even here wiltord/benzema/govou is not exactly poverty.
