yeah no kidding. and good gosh... tobin will play WHERE?? she has GOT to be on the attack for the 'Heels, she's just too good. hmm... so HAO'll be the in & out starter up top, Casey Nogueira will prolly be up there... and Sterling?? maybe Tobin at wing, Libby attacking mid?? WOW i cannot BELIEVE they knocked the 'Heels so bad in preseason polls. they've got so many awesome players we can't even spit out a potential lineup. then there's the obvious-- Jess center defense, i guess ariel & robyn (????)... and i like Anna. i don't care what anyone says, Anna is incredible.
I love the optimism on this board, but come on now. Others schools have have the same problem and did not lose 3-4 of their best players to graduation + their starting goalkeeper to injury. There is a good reason for doubting how good UNC will be this year due to all of the new faces. I think we could be better than expected, but lets not annoint them before we even seem them play.
i do understand why they are underestimating us, and i don't blame them, but i have seen them play and we are gonna be damn good. as soon as we get everyone back from the national teams we're gonna turn some heads.
isn't that usually the case? and how many teams have a walk-on keeper that could've gotten a full ride somewhere else-- and only didn't b/c they were DETERMINED to play at a certain school?? anna is incredible. liz is awesome. c'mon now, we haven't seen the new ones yet... for all we know, they're better than anna, liz, or aly. (not saying ash b/c ash isn't fair game, b/c she's hurt.)
O.K. NOW, I have been waiting patiently while all you Tar Heels pat yourselves on the back about how great your 06' version of perfection will be....could someone PLEASE let me know how Jaime Gilbert is doing ??????
Jaime Gilbert This on Gilbert from the 2006 Season Outlook, inside the 2006 Media Guide on tarheelblue.com's women's soccer site (look on the right side for the link): Jaime Gilbert, junior forward: “Jaime has had an excellent career. She struggled a bit in the spring. If she can start to get her speed back and her fitness back we will return her to the front line where she started as a freshman. She was really outstanding playing up front as a freshman and we think that is her best role.” -quoting Anson Dorrance
If you go to USSoccer.com, there's some cool footage of Casey and Tobin performing ball tricks. The link should be on the left for those interested.
The UNC website said it started at 8pm. That usually means ET but it was CDT. TAMU has a live internet feed: http://www.aggieathletics.com/games.php?SID=WSO&SSID=6249 Click on the free live video for the feed.
I guess we can move from this preseason thread to the 2006 season thread, here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=400642
