This thread might be a big one, we're now looking at close to a dozen Canadians playing in Holland at various different levels ranging from U19 to Eredivisie. De Guzman, Friend, De Jong and maybe Wagenaar (if he can displace anal boy Postma) look to be starters in the Eredivisie.

De Guzman goes 76 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Chelsea. Coincidentally the 2nd Canadian to play Chelsea in as many preseason games....

What's Will Johnson's situation? it doesn't look like Heerenveen have too many strikers left after selling both Samaras and Huntelaar.

Not sure, but he hasn't dressed for any Heerenveen pre-season games. They even used Michael Bradley at right forward in one game because of injuries. Right now looks like Friend, Nilsson and Pranjic as the starters. Tarvajari is also on the roster...too lazy to look up who else is at forward for them. Bruggink is gone though, that i know...

I missed this the first time, different article on Feyenoord site talking with Koeman about the post Chelsea fallout and injuries sustained.

"It was another educational game for us after the one against Middlesbrough. We played against one of Europe’s elite today. We did well first half and we played the ball around well at times. I was especially pleased with De Guzman; it was very clear that he wanted the ball."

Rob Friend goes 90 as Heerenveen come from behind to beat ADO Den Haag 3-2. Wagenaar was not dressed for ADO, Postma got the start and Zwinkels was the backup. Let's see how long Postma lasts as he gave up 2 goals in the last 10 minutes...

Marcel De Jong starts and goes 90 as Roda JC win 1-0 on the road at Excelsior

Wagenaar wasn't dressed because of administratives mistakes. Postma didn't have a good game and some ADO fans still want to see Wagenaar as their #1. Unlikely to happen unless Postma have a string of bad games.

Jono De Guzman goes 90 as Feyenoord are embarassed 3-0 at Groningen. Graham Ramalho not dressed for Groningen, probably on the reserves for the start of the season...

Hey Zerou, what kind of admin. error was it?

It something related to his papers, I don't really know but fans are saying that was the club fault (no big deal since he wasn't schedule to start). It's still funny to read how many fans are already tired of Postma on the ADO fans forum.

    Here's the release:

    Translation:

The absentie of Josh Wagenaar on the bank of ADO The Hague during the game of the hedge arse against SC lord peat had do everything with an administrative error. Canadian not yet speelgerechtigd for the hedge arse are because the papierhandel are not yet round, therefore zat the young goalie on the platform and not on the bank as a stand-in of Stefan Postma. ADO The Hague let know that to required papers long in itself do not let more wait.

** Is "hedge arse" a game Dutch people play? ;)

Rob Friend opens his account in the 46th minute today. He scored the 5th and final goal for Heerenveen in a 5-0 whipping of Willem II. He was subbed out in the 64th minute. Att. was 25 600, not bad for a town of 30 000.

Jono De Guzman goes 90 as Feyenoord draw 0-0 at home to Excelsior. Not looking good for them, they have no one who can put it in the back of the net...

Wagenaar was the backup again as ADO lost 2-0 to NAC Breda at home. After 3 games ADO are the only team without a point in the Dutch league.

De Jong played 90 again for Roda in a 2-2 draw with Twente.

Rob Friend went 72 minutes in a 3-0 Heerenveen win over NEC.

Jono De Guzman bags his first of the season in a losing cause as Feyenoord fall at PSV 2-1. Jono went 90.

According to a Roda supporter de Jong was all over Rosales and never let him create anything on the flank. Looks like young Marcel has a lock on the left back spot for Roda!

Jono was subbed out at halftime. Didn't see much of him playing on the left flank, but he did attempt a through pass down the touchline that went out of bounds. Feyenoord did not look that great, but squeaked out a 3-2 win with a late goal.

Roda wins 2-0 and both Canucks go 90. Friend is dominant in the air, most long balls end up on his head and some of them end up on his teammates feet. ;) Alot of balls get played up to him and he does have decent foot skills to hold it up and play back to the mids. He had a couple half chances that he shot wide or over the net. De Jong looked composed on the ball and always made the smart pass. Wasn't tested too much defensively, yet didn't push up too much, but seemed to be positioned well to support the attack and has quickness to get back and cover his man.
