Yeah differece is nite and day. He should of been doig this for Wolves and then playing like this in WC06, we'd of made it to 2nd round glad Seol is playing well tho
well it was only one game. who gives a sh!t, if he's riding the pines and moping about halfway into the season. can't help but feel bad for the Molineux fans who paid their hard earned $$$ for duckets. from their perspective, they saw "this" Seol too, so it can only look like he's fairweather atm. let's just hope he rediscovers wot the word consistency means. as we saw in this 1'st match against 'Boro, he doesn't have to put one in the back of the net to help his team...
I think the problem with Seol is one that involves the league catching up with him...lending to his inconsistencies. Seems he does really well when the leagues dont know much about him. His transition from Champions to Premier is pretty much analogous to moving to a new league. I hope I am wrong.
It's all about confidence for Seol. He'll play well when he plays with confidence like he did in 02/03 season (after 02 WC) with Anderlecht but he's completely a different player when his confidence is down. Fortunately for us and Reading fans, he's playing with confidence now after being able to play in the prem finally and doing so well in Reading's preseason games. I hope he continues this form but I have my doubts to say the least ATM.
agree myself as well. we've all been burned one too many a time. i've said it before and i'll say it again, it would be easier to be a fan of this man if he would just not show us the brilliance. if he played one match per season like this, i don't think any of us would care, but when he shows us his quality for spells at a time and then just disappears as his confidence goes down, it can be nothing BUT frustrating.
Seol was outstanding yesterday, I think Seol and Convey presents a great threat on the flanks for teams playing against Reading.
Team of the week. Planetfootball. http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=410937&CPID=8&clid=&lid=1490&title=Team+of+the+Weekend
Seol is very good on this game. He and Convey are different types. For Convey, you probably know that he will just zip over a defeder, but for Seol, he has kind of decptive quickness. He looks like a tall, slow and clumsy kid, but somehow a quick move would leave the defender in the dust. Impressive, but he needs to keep the play. What I found out is that players alway have an easier time first year in EPL, when every defenders don't know the attendancy, but 2nd year is much tougher because everyone knows what you will do! The funniest part is that ref signals Seol back to field, then he just took the ball out of the poor guy.
Confidence is one, another one is to get used to the playing style. Convey, had a terrible first season in Reading and pepole though that he may not cut it. But now, looks on him zips over EPL defenders. Same as Seol. I guess the first year in England may help him to adapt.
His first year he was good with Wolverhampton. The 2nd year he stunk before being transferred to Reading. He spent 2 1/2 years in England. I could understand the cultural difference that he's having trouble adjusting to but he still nonetheless need to toughen up. Atleast Park JS goes out there and plays effectively for Manure.
From what I've seen, I agree with this. He has few good moves, and once the defenders know what they are, he have more trouble getting past them. He doesn't seem to do a good job of adjusting, as the defenders adjust to him. He stubbornly holds on to the ball and keeps trying to beat the defender with the same moves, but done with more effort.
Seol's crosses were great, his freekicks were very close but what I realized the most about this game was Seol's work ethic. He was everywhere, cutting off passes. Basically he was very well concentrated and ready to play. Hope he keeps it up. BTW this Reading team was quite entertaining to watch.
Good player in Reading His debut match in Premiership was so fantastic. He seems to be enough ready to play in the division. Many Korean fans are delightful now. We hope he will keep this condition~~~~ http://column.eflamma.com/ http://www.eflamma.com/index.asp
If only we can tell him(Seol) what you guys are saying. Maybe he'll realize some things and play better.
LOL.. I wouldn't get too excited. That defender Arca looked as mobile as a beached whale. Only way Boro was gonna cover SKH was to throw a blanket on him, because there was nobody in their back 4 that could mark worth a flip. I can't wait to see him try it against some of the better defenders, than I will give him some props.
Seol gets MOTM from one of their sponsors. Praised. http://www.readingfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10306~885772,00.html
These are my impressions of the type of player Seol is, and the reasons for his inconsistency. QB, tell me if you have any thoughts on this. I think one of the most important aspects of Seol is that he is a player who tends to think a lot before making his move - whether that be delivering a cross, or making a pass. He tends to overthink to the point of being indecisive, which makes it appear that he lacks confidence. Secondly, his strides are extraordinarily long. This suits him well when he has also built up the requisite fitness to complement it, but when he is less than fit, his long stride is only a liability, because it makes him tire quickly. But on Saturday, we saw a fitter Seol than we've seen for a long time. So he was able to use that long stride to great effect, surging past defenders, and creating space for himself quickly, typically needing only a few of these strides after pushing the ball past the defender. (Korean fans, compare this with Lee Chun-soo and Lee Young-pyo, both short-striding players who have trouble getting past long-limbed players.) And the fact that even his defending seemed acceptable, and even at times impressive, is a further indication that Seol is fitter than he had been. But even on Saturday, he got very tired near the end of the game, though he still kept playing hard. So, if his consistency wanes, then I'm afraid it's due to the fact that his fitness isn't quite good enough to overcome that conspicuous characteristic - at the same time a strength and a liability depending on his fitness level - of having a monstrously long stride. If I could talk with Coppell, I would give him this advice based on my scouting: Don't overplay hiim at the beginning. Sub someone for him at 70 minutes, and let him come in as a sub in some games. Rest him a few games every month, and allow him to build up his fitness gradually. (And one more thing: teach him to trust his instincts, and not think so damn much! When he finds space, he should not pass up his opportunities by overthinking. And lastly, don't bruise his ego, but constantly nurture his confidence by letting him rise to the challenge of playing the big opponents, because otherwise he could become 'Sulky Hyeon' when he sees the attention his fellow Premier League countrymen are getting.) Otherwise, the long season will only tire him out, and you will see a less effective player, whose confidence will wane with poor performances. I think my observations are warranted if one looks at his past history, particularly in Belgium. He typically had brights starts, but fizzled midway through the season. He really seems to suffer when the number of games takes its toll.
pretty much all of last season we subbed both wingers at around 70 minutes, and we may well continue that policy this season. Glen Little, who played on the right last season, has a rather similar style to Seol, in that his uses trickery rather than pace to get past players - and the same habit of looking like he's taken on one player too many, only to emerge in a good position. Although Seol looked very tired towards the end, he had taken quite a heavy knock a short while earlier, so that might have been a slight reason for it.
Are there any clips of Seol in action? I guess he's done really well to impress so many people on the boards!
