Hirschfield felt that he was snubbed by Yallop during WCQ, and that he should have been in net and not Onstad. Lars has not been in the fold since because of a "feud" or whatever you want to call it after he called Yallop out.

Seriously though, quit with the Stamatopolous rah-rah, Tromso went out of their way to purchase a replacement for him a few weeks ago. At this point, if Wagenaar does win the starting spot at ADO he has to be considered ahead of Stama.

Wagenaar will begin the season as the #2. But i feel like it's better for him to learn some stuff about the pro level before starting (6 months ago he was still an NCAA keeper). The good news is that ADO fans that saw him in training were very impressed with his athletics abilities and think that he's turn will come sooner than later. Still don't know if he'll be battling for a spot on our MNT roster by the beginning of the next WCQ round.

Ok I did not know any of the first part.

Still if Lars is not starting at the Jamaica friendly maybe then you have to think it had nothing to do with Yallop, he just has been passed by and is no longer a part of Canadian Soccer. We will see when they announce the team for the Jamaica friendly I guess.

Wildboy, err cuddles, doesn't your Lars act play better at Vs where there are enough whiners to appreciate it. Ooops, I used the word bet. :)

If you are talking to me(by saying cuddles I assumed you meant me although I am cuddles24 there does not appear to be another cuddles on here)I am again confused to what you are trying to talk about, or the point of the joke you are trying to make. Please enlighten me.

Yeah, but when the keeper has started 4 of your last 7 games and is clearly in the top 2-3, you play him in the town he plays with his club, especially for a friendly.

Onstad is finished with the national team. Still a question as to why he started the WCQ campaign even though he had a poor previous WCQ. He's a club keeper from now on.

Lars has certainly improved and would be considered a #1. We've dealt with jilted NT players in the past and this would be no different.

Sutton can be considered but doesn't he have injury concerns? If so, I'd rather see him stick it out at club level for a bit longer.

Josh and Asmir would be the default #2 and #3 at the moment.

Serious. In a country where increasing exposure and support is the name of the game, you might as well play to the home town fans.

Correct me if I am wrong but isnt is so that:

Onstad has not started a game since the WCQ two years ago. Hirschfeld has not started a game for Canada in 17 months. Fernandes has never started a game for Canada.

Furthermore neither Onstad or Hirschfeld is likely to ever start a game for Canada ever again.

So how those 3 can even be candidates in a poll for the best Canadian goalkeeper, let alone the only candidates is a mystery.

Why don't you ask the person who started this thread? he/she has made a whopping total of 5 posts in the 2 months since they've signed up for this site, so that might be a little hard...

OK I will try and do that. You do understand what I am saying though I hope.
Sometimes it is feeling like nobody understands what I am saying even though it seems so straightforward.

This poll confuses me even more now. As we can see Sutton and Stamatopolous are clearly the two top Canadian goalkeepers now, since they have now been the two asked to play the last 3 games for Canada. Onstad has not played for Canada in 2 years now. Hirschfeld has not played for Canada in atleast 18 months now, and even while starting for the best club of all the Canadian keepers is not getting called to play for them, since they are going with Sutton and Stamatopolous instead. Fernandes has not yet played a game for Canada.

So why are the two keepers who are the only ones who have any chance to play for Canada in the next 2 years atleast, and are the only two they have called to play for them in the last 8 months not the only 2 options?

Onstad and Hirschfeld, who will never play for Canada again, and Fernandes whose future with Canada is easy seem like the silly poll options.

They can't, he's tied to Portugal now after appearing in a U21 game earlier this year for them. Yes, he's 23, but the UEFA guidelines for U21 are actually more like U23. That's why he was eligible.

he was only capped in a friendly so he may still be eligible. and a player can play u21 as long as he was 21 or under at the start of qualifying eg. if a player is 21 at the start of qualifying he may be almost 23 by the time the tournament starts

No, he was capped in a U-21 UEFA Championship game against Germany (0-0). Portugal was already eliminated after their first 2 games and the coach decided to play Fernandes in goal for Portugal last game.

    He isn't eligible for Canada.

It was reported before the Canada-Austria game that Fernandes was contacted by the CMNT coaches but he decided to go with Portugal U-21.

I just know Kenny and Lars of the Canadian goalkeepers as both have played for my club Tromsø. Unfortinly is Lars miles better than Kenny. Lars was magnificent last year for Tromsø, and knocked out former Norwegian NT keeper Johnsen in Rosenborg this season. Had big hopes for Kenny as Lars replacement but got realy dissepointed, he just dont have the skills needed for playing in the top league in Norway. You cant realy comepere them as Lars is on a complitly diffrent level than Kenny.

You may feel that way but the Canadian Soccer Assocation feels Kenny is a far superior goalkeeper to Lars. Lars has not played in any of the last 9 games for Canada. Kenny has started in 3 of the last 6 I believe. Lars was not asked for the latest friendly, and was bypassed for Kenny, despite Lars success at his club, and Kenny's flop at his weaker club, they still determined that Kenny was the "much superior" goalkeeper and called him again. Lars is also not asked to play at either of the next 2 games for Canada either, and is likely to never be asked to play for Canada again.

So while you may have that opinion the Canadian Soccer Association has a completely different one and believe Kenny is far superior to Lars, as well Greg is far superior to Lars in their eyes. They have certainly proven that belief over the last 18 months.

All I think this proves is how bad the CSA is at evaluating talent and helps explain Canada's poor showing in Internationals. They play their favourites, not their best.

Actually you are right. The CSA are a incompetent bunch of nitwits who couldnt judge talent for jack, and who dont even choose to play their best people when they do recognize correctly who are the best. Like you say it shows in their horrable international standing.

The fact Hirschfeld, the country's best goalkeeper has not been the starting goalkeeper in almost 3 years, and has not been asked to play even once in the last almost 2 years any of 7 times(including the Gold Cup as only 1)while healthy, instead asking him only the 2 times he was INJURED as a convenience for PR reasons for fans but ensuring he could never play for them, instead turning to much weaker goalkeepers like Onstad, Sutton, Statamapolous the whole time, and the fact that he was permenently excluded from the MNT almost 2 years ago and is certain to never play another game for them pretty much reflects the idiocy of the CSA. However they get what they deserve for their dumb decisions like their choice 3 years ago to permenently exclude Hirschfeld and other worthy players from the MNT, a crummy world ranking and little chance of qualifying for a WC.

Not every site, I kicked him off my site after his second post when I could see what he was up to (baiting) and then he went off to troll Vs (aided by the permanent non existent modding there) and then he came here and well...

People seem to forget that baiting (especially non stop) is against forum guidelines (it is written) and usually lay the blame on the respondent and not the culprit. Just like society I guess. Never a perp always a victim.

I was never on another soccer site except for here or the Vs so you dont have a clue, just as the multiple Canadian Soccer fans who dont recognize Hirschfeld's permenent exclusion from the MNT when he hasnt been asked while healthy to play for them in almost 2 years and keep thinking he will return for the next game dont have a clue either. Unless you mean the soccer forums network where I was never banned, and still post on the other countries boards from time to time but not in the Canadian board since it is just one person talking to himself posting information that nobody is reading anyway.

The lack of common sense of many of the Canadian Soccer fans is such that posting the truth on things which others are unable to recognize, and which you continualy get shown right on and they are continualy surprised by in many cases, is supposably trolling. That is because the grasp on reality does not exist with many of those people, and the recognition that what you keep saying is happening keeps happening is lost on those who lack in that common sense.
