The picture is actually the moment before the moment of impact. If you picture a 2x4 piece of wood at a 45° angle being struck in the center by another 2x4 and caving in you have a good idea about what happened.
But you can see that it's a 50-50 ball (even though the ball is not in view) not two-footed and from behind.
Shocking!!!!!!!! Some of the jackasses on here were talking about suing the guy. Bunch of idiots. A very hard tackle and bad luck is probably what it was. Let's shoot the idiots on here like Mario Kempes.
yeah, if it's not too much trouble coudl you send it my way too? thanks either way....the still-frame somewaht explains it... email me4chi@yahoo.com
Paging Bill Archer: You want to watch that video and lecture us all on two-footed tackles from behind yadda yadda yadda. Don't mean to single you out, but you were one of the loudest, "I haven't seen it, but he should be banned" voices. Now that I have seen it, I can say: 1. very bad tackle 2. deserving of a red card 3. deserving of some sort of fine and reasonable suspension. 4. not from behind 5. not two-footed studs up. Okay, one-footed studs up, but the ball was in the air, and they BOTH went high for it and HS was late. 6. somewhat ridicuolous in the context of a scrimmage against a college team, but certainly not the criminal assault many people were calling for without the benefit of actually seeing the play. I have seen more sinsiter tackles in MLS, but the results just weren't as dire. Now lets set a penalty and move on.
Define "not working in the least". Were you able to download it? If so, that's way past "in the least". Do you have Quicktime installed? Did you right click and save? It seems like it's working for others...can you follow directions?
windows media, im not on my own computer at the moment so i dunno. but it just scrolls through and says done. doesnt even download.
Windows Media player is not able to play quicktime files. It does not have the appropriate codecs anymore. Used to be the case that microsoft and apple used the same set of codecs for video compression in avi and mov files, but that is no longer the case, and Apple has decided (in it's infinite wisdom) that it is better that their software alone be used to view these files.
The challenge certainly was not criminal, but was REALLY stupid, especially considering the fact that it was a meaningless match. I think it looks like he was trying to do some damage, but probably not break bones. A decent fine and a few games suspension should be good enough.
Yeah and Microsoft (in its infinite wisdom) has done the same thing with their proprietary format(s). The wonders of the modern information age - sigh.
just got it to work. was he going for the ball or the kid's leg, it's hard to tell. either way that was pretty vicious tackle, bu it wasn't the two legged dive bomb i thought it was/would be.
That's pretty much how I feel. Ugly? Yes. Hard? Yes. Avoidable? Yes. Cardable? Yes. Intentional? Can't tell. Suspendable? Probably, especially given all the PR that this thing has gotten. Criminal? No. That said, I still maintain that a player of Stotchkov's talent and experience should have known better, especially since it was a freindly against younger, amateur players and because as a coach he should be setting an example.
The way this thing has been blown up, I would have thought he ran the entire length of the field to cut the boy down. Heck, it was virtually a 50/50 ball. No way I suspend a guy for that kind of tackle. Its a shame what happened, but, I can't think it was intentional from that video (no Ty Keough intent comment needed). BWG Richmond, VA
It's a little grainy, but watch the film again closely, and re-wind it frame by frame several times. Watch Freddy's head at the moment of contact. Back . . . and to the left Back . . . and to the left Seriously, they both have a high boot with HS getting there late, but it looks to me that at the moment of contact that HS is turning to put a hip check on the kid. While a bit childish in a scrimmage, I think that is the extent of his intent.
Anyone who's watched Hristo for the last year or so knows this kind of thing has become more common with him. It's frustration at not being able to keep up with the play (and it's not a 50/50 ball when you go through the other guy's leg to get at it). Hristo is a seasoned pro who knows how to use his body for good or ill. This was just a college kid guys. Stoitchkov should be suspended for sure. But really it's time for him to retire. On another note...that Jim Rome movie is just about the funniest thing I've ever seen (and now I know why he wheres the cheesy goatee).
Who cares if it was a college kid??? There are players in MLS YOUNGER than this kid. Obviously you a skirt wearing soccer player. Thankgod the majority of us aren't so pinko!!
god damn. chicago fire supporters of this guy are a lot like all the people that said O.J. was innocent.
