Marek Citko was in attendance Saturday and had a private meeting, after the game, with Piotr Nowak. http://www.section8chicago.org/images/07_22_06/P7230324.JPG http://www.section8chicago.org/images/07_22_06/P7230337.JPG
heard some staff was mouthing off about how great Citko will be for us as if he's signed nevermind the guy is absolutely finished as player i saw him a few years back and he was tony-sanneh-level awful
Hard to say what they would do with the fire but neither one of these guys seem like the player to change the fire's fortune. Seems like the only reason people are excited is because their Polish. We can't afford to blow our allocation money on another reiter.
I respectfully disagree, the reason people are excited about Mila is because he has a big upside and could improve the club. No one is pining for Marek Citko. As for Lubos Reiter, he wasn't a huge success, but then again he wasn't a disaster, he just didn't work out. I'd rather use a foreign allocation instead of wasting them the way we're doing now.
Yes, and I used to be a big Citko fan. (I'm from Augustow which is really close to Bialystok.) He's done. But he is probably still better than Logan Pause.
Reiter didn't work out for some reason and that is a disaster when you use allocation money on him. Using up your allocation money on some one who fails to help the team is a disaster and I would rather save the money than spend it on someone who isn't going to make a big difference.Once you spend that allocation money it's gone and you can't use it even if you eventually find the right player.
Oh, I see, we're "saving up" those allocation $$$ I'd rather have my team spend money and take a shot on someone, but I guess you prefer non-competitive teams.
So would I. You don't get allocations from selling veterans, you get them from selling young players...young players that would be leaving in any case. So actually using the allocation is not the loss...what is lost is the player that is already gone. Or, to put it another way: The allocation itself is just recompense for losing that player, so as long as you don't use the allocation, you are playing a man down... If you want to use that allocation to cover existing salaries, then fine...but don't blame me for Tony Sanneh.
Per radio 1030 AM, Marek Citko will not be signing with the Fire. Ultimate decision was made by Dave Sarachan. They will be going with the Frenchman Pascal Bedrossian.
Hey, both this Marek guy and Pascal character both had trials with Arsenal.... ...in 1997. http://www.arseweb.com/shared/transfers.html
Here's the run down on Bedrossian from L'equipe. He's a striker, who was playing in the French 2nd league last year. Pascal Bedrossian
Okay, I don't know anything about this player so maybe this is an unfair (to him) question - but is really the best the Fire could do? I mean really. I can still remember back to the days when we lost Beasley and Boca and how we would save the allocation $ and make a huge splash in the player market to dovetail with the new stadium. What happened to that plan? Because we sure could use it from both a talent and attendance perspective. But this just feels like a waste of time -- like much of the rest of the season has been so far.
Careful, the unofficial "Justin Mapp Polesmokers Association" will neg-rep you for this one! After all, Mapp's mighty totals of 3 assists and zero goals is the very foundation that supports both the FIRE and the entire league!
Dude, different GM. diferent vision. If indeed this guy is the best we can do, and if he'll be a part of the team, I for one will cheer him vigorously. But I have this haunting feeling that Bedrossian is French for "Reiter." [MUST this team fail at everything it attempts to do?]
