You guys absolutely outplayed us tonight. Garlick's still a classless piece..., but each goal scored tonight was deserved, either on a boneheaded play by our team or a great individual effort. Cunny's still tempermental as ever: until he bagged his first, he was screaming at Kreis and everyone else on the pitch. Then again, Kreis "trotted" all over the pitch as usual - I saw him involved in one tackle at midfield but that was about it. Cunny's assist on Klein's goal was beautiful. Stewart and Forko were absolutely solid outside - Cooke had a slight hamstring injury, but it was rare that our attacks on the right went anywhere. Either way, this is great for the rivalry - the second of September should be a great game.
It was a hack-fest. 23 fouls is a bit out of line but you guys did deserve to win. Too bad you couldn't do it in a reasonable way. Good win for you guys. We all hope you get your stadium deal in place!!!!!!
The ref was wearing a Real shirt under his ref kit. While Real did play better than the rapids tonight the ref gave yellow card after yellow card to colorado when salt lake got off easy on in-the-run-of-play-fouls. Yeah yeah, sequiera got sent off and the other guy got a yellow, but that was not in the run of play, that was a bust up after the rapids only goal. It was a disapointing game, and just another painful reminder of how dumb clavijo is (getting rid of cunny)
Four cards to RSL (3 yellow and a red), six to Colorado (five yellow and a red). Which were undeserved (asking your opinion, not challenging you)? COL -- Clint Mathis (caution; Game Disrepute) 31 RSL -- Mehdi Ballouchy (caution; Game Disrepute) 31 COL -- Kyle Beckerman (caution; Pushing, Holding) 42 COL -- Hunter Freeman (caution; Reckless Foul) 58 COL -- Aitor Karanka (caution; Reckless Foul) 69 COL -- Eric Denton (ejection; Denied Goal Scoring Opportunity (Foul)) 75 RSL -- Kenny Cutler (caution; Reckless Foul) 77 RSL -- Douglas Sequeira (ejection; Violent Conduct) 85 COL -- Mike Petke (caution; Pushing, Holding) 85 RSL -- Scott Garlick (caution; Pushing, Holding) 85
Awesome. We're getting some "love" on the Post Game show. (By "love" I mean we're getting knocked down to the ground... Hilarious!)
It's not much, but for a minute I'm going to enjoy the fact that we're unbeaten in our last three (regular season) games, and I hope it's not too much to ask of RSL to extend its two game winning streak when we visit the Crew next Wednesday. Great win, RSL. Wish I could have seen it, but I enjoyed the radio broadcast. 4 goals. Isn't that a franchise first?
Can anyone explain this -- it sounded like the announcers had replay in the booth. So there was video for the game. But if they had video, why couldn't they put the video on Direct Kick?
Why, for the love all thats holy, did they not broadcast this match on DK? Great for RSL, it brought a to my face to read the score. Just wish I could have watched it.
It's impossible to give player assessments without actually viewing the match (Scholes & Hatch aside). As a backup, I arranged for RapidStorm, a very astute & objective eyewitness, to provide tonight's "Guest Assessments": Again, many thanks to RapidStorm for these excellent & evenhanded assessments. Trust me, it's is not easy to do for the visiting, unfamiliar team. Please rep him liberally here.
I believe besides getting some mojo, the number #1 different thing that RSL has been doing is Carey Talley. Having him in the midfield has supercharged RSL. IMHO
Don't look now, but "selfish" Jeff Cunningham has six assists - tied for the team lead with Carey Talley - to go along with his league-leading thirteen goals.
Great win for RSL! So how do we want the the LA vs. CO game to go on Saturday? We don't want CO to get the win and get further out of reach, although we don't want LA getting ahead of us either. It's almost as if the best thing to happen is for them to tie. Keep them both as close as possible as far as points go. What do you think? Congrats to RSL on the sweet victory.
A CO-LA draw is the best outcome for RSL, but LA is closer to us in the table, so its in our best interest for them to lose. However, CRapids have now lost 2 games in a row with a combined score of 8-2. LA has been doing really well lately. I think LA will beat CRapids this weekend.
Maybe when he has as many assists as Kreis or Klein people will quit calling him selfish. Oh! Wait! Six is more that 5 and 4. SP gave some deserved credit to Talley. Cunningham, for as frustrating as his "down" games can be, has taken an anemic offense and turned it into a multi-goal threat.
I've been looking everywhere for highlights of this game. I know that they exist because someone told me that they showed them on the news last night. Has anyone been able to find any kind of video evidence that this game actually took place anywhere? I'd certainly like to see it.
Oh how good a win feels, 1-4 RSL! THIS is for your listening pleasure as you post and read about last nights awsome victory. These are for you viewing pleasure: Colorado were pretty sure of themselves before the match started And they showed some signs of attacking But RSL had a great team effort... continued...
...cont. And this man showed up to play! Bringing great energy, making things happen, destroying the defense, passing the ball, And scoring. Cunningham= League leading 13 goals, player of the week RSL=Victory over Colorado, renewed hope in Rocky Mountain Cup and Western race, but most important; some confidence.
It was a complete ass kicking!!! Worst game (from our perspective) we've seen in Denver in a LONG LONG time. Congrats to you all - and hopefully there'll be a nice contingent heading up to SLC for the final game of the RMC. I also wanted to share with you some good stuff: When Cunningham scored his first goal ... he ran over to the corner of the Centennial Firm - pulled out his Tommy Gun and mowed them all down with a BIG GRIN on his face - pretty great. Then when he perfected a masterful Broadway Dive at midfield - Class VI was riding him pretty heavy - and he turned and tautned Class VI sending them into a fury After the match though - Class VI gave him an ovation that he appreciated and deserved. MLS needs a lot more Cunninghams. Coaches hate him - but the fans always love him. Also, the little stir up with Garlick was caused by Garlick - after the goal was scored - the Rapids players were rushing into the net to get the ball - and at the last second - Scott lunged and picked up the ball and wouldn't give it up. Garlick and Petke started shoving pretty seriously (Petke was fired up - probably cuz he completely sucked on the night) and I didn't actually see what Douglas did - but whatever it was REALLY fired everyone up. Hope that fills in a few moments for you since it wasn't on the tube.
Class VI and Centennial Firm? Hold it, there are 2, thats t-w-o, supporter clubs in Colorado? I don't believe it.
