Does anybody else think that this kid has a good shot of making the 1st Club next year? I think he can be an impact player like Messi. Please post your thoughts. :)

I could see him making some late season games, like Messi did when he was first introduced to the first team. Anything sooner than that would be a surprise to me though. He was just promoted to Barça B, so I'm sure they expect him to spend the majority of the season there. They did bring him to Denmark with the first team, and I believe that they will be bringing him along for the US tour.

There was actually an article about him in Sport a few days ago, in which they spoke about how they wanted to bring him along without too much pressure.

I don't think he is ready this year. He is still young. It is good for him to get some friendly experience in. Maybe he can get some Copa Del Rey matches in this season. And we will have La Liga won by March so he has some chances at the end of the season. He should take Ezquerro's spot in 07-08, if Ezquerro stays until then.

I'd expect him to get 4-5 games at the end IF barcelona can afford to play him.

The thing is, Messi got his games as a youth player. Barca "B" rules are different. If we brought him up, he would take a non-EU spot. So he willl only get a chance if Ronaldinho, Eto'o, or Marquez get an EU passport (which they will before the 07-08 season), or if one of the three can be afforded to be dropped.

At least in 07-08 he can play wih the team because Ronaldinho, Marquez, Eto'o are supposed to get EU passports by then.

Just to calrify the non-eu situation for you. Dos Santos is a youth player and only 17 years old. Under the guidelines of the LFP, he would be considered an assimilated player and able to play for the first team until he has a professional contract with Barca at the age of 18. Similar to how Messi was brought onto the team during the end of the 2003-2004. when Barca already has there non-EU slots full.

Dos Santos has been with the youth team as long as Messi has, if not longer. Dos Santos will be eligible for an EU passport as well. The problem is..the predatory Arsene Wenger and his spies are waiting for Dos Santos to become an EU citizen so they won't have to wait for a WP to steal him. GDS needs to sign a pro-contract AND get his EU passport...

The problem is, if he does One and Not the other Barca are screwed for at least 1 season.

I don't know if the pedophile (AW) will be an issue because I don't see Dos Santos getting an EU passport before he is 18.

He just earned promotion to Barca B, i expect us to use him and the likes of Verdu and Gomez is friendlies and less important games. Already our midfield is crowded, i don`t see him getting action in the primera.

Next season he will be ready for some liga action, the only hinderance is, we have one of the most talented midfields in europe so he will still have to work harder to see action, we need to be patient with him.

he'll hopefully take ezquerro's spot next season, unless ezquerro shows a spectacular improvement this season.

Now you know why the loss of Cesc and Pique were not that big of a deal...

    Messi and Dos Santos

Rijkaard must just be drooling to get this kid some seasoning and grooming

this kid is clearly the real deal, unfortunately his natual position(s) are covered for the next few years but i just assume see him join the first team this season. our top 3 three (eto'o, dinho, messi) won't change, but i could see him taking over for deco down the line to provide the offensive output people were suggesting that lampard could provide. barca now has the luxury of being in the sellers market, no need to buy starting offensive players for 4-6 years. iniesta and dos santos will be ideal sucessors to deco and xavi.

    Andrés Iniesta is in TROUBLE.

If Iniesta keeps his progress up like he did last season, I very much doubt that

My guess is Frank will probably stick this kid on the wings, either left or right. Iniesta is going for any of the three midfield spots, and has the advantage he can actually play on the defensive midfield spot, as he showed against Benfica last season.

Andres is going to give us all alot of fun for years to come.

What the hell is happening in our youth system? we're are all these guys coming from! :D

Probably not. But then again it's not as if we lack firepower up front now do we?

Not really, but he can hit posts like nobody's business. :)

As for Dos Santos, slow down guys. It was just one game, and only a few plays at that. I've said before that I think Dos Santos is going to become a world class player. I don't even think there's any question of that, save for serious injury. That said, everyone should remember that this is still a 17 year old kid(just turned 17 in fact), and he shouldn't be expected to produce anything yet. From the things I've read in regards to how the coaching staff feels about him, he'll most likely make his debut late in the season. That means he's already being fast tracked to the first team, and will make his debut as a 17 year old.

Expecting him to be any part of the first team, in the first half of the season at least, would be very premature.
