    From Soccernet:

Unless I'm mistaken, that means a nice ~1.7 mill (pounds) for the Arsenal. Can't hurt! :)

He won't - he still has issues outside the field that affect the way he plays on the field. He won't change being at Liverpool. He will be an average player at best.

I disagree, I think he will be pretty good. His past problems were a result of being young with $$. From what I understand, he has a good head on his shoulders. They wouldn't be spending $$ on him if he was messed up or they don't plan on using him.

From what I've seen, he likes to to drive drunk in other people's cars and crash them on the M1.

He's more than an average player already, he's a good player who will only get better, he has to work on his passing as he tends to give the ball away at times but we've got ourselves a good player. He will be on his best behaviour at Liverpool because he knows one wrong move and he'll be shipped out, plus he's playing for the club he's always supported as do his family, so I'm sure he'll be on his best behaviour.

    Thanks for your concern though.

If it turns out well, good for him...no1 who plays football generally would like to see a fellow player not succeed. However, I still think he is a little spoilt piece of sh!t.

Anyways, back to the best part...it would seem as we will get 1,675 million quid from the deal, yay!:p

I think he'll be pretty damned good. He will be around some solid players on the pitch, as opposed to Birmingham. Its never been a "talent" question with Pennant.

    The money we get?
So what... we aren't going to spend it... we aren't buying anyone. Wenger's doing his usual. We NEED a CD now... but instead, we watch and wait. Maybe in the January window will be his response.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see Wenger buying anyone.

Arsene is playing his cards well: the market is very hot right now, there are a lot of players moving around, what with italy and the such, but he is keeping cool. Well done Mr. Wenger.

lets see if were saying that by august 31st. we said all the same stuff last summer and still ended up signing no-one else but hleb. except last season he was saying we will definatly sign 'one or two world-class players' this season hes saying 'if there is an opertunity'' so dont hold your breath, wenger will use his young squad if he feels to, weve seen that(last season)

regarding pennent. first it was fowler, then bellamy and now pennent, what are those scousers up to?

Indeed. Arsène is playing it so cool now, as the year before, that you'd almost confuse him with a corpse. We have lost too much quality not to need signings. I love grooming our young players, but there needs to be a mix. Young players in this day and age don't sign lifetime contracts, and more likely than not, they finish their career somewhere other than where they started.

Back on topic, I think Jermaine Pennant is a very good player, and one of the only reasons I'd bother watching Birmingham play last year. I look forward to watching him develop this season.

Personally I think he's really good. You'd watch B'gham City play and he'd easily be the only source of inspiration and energy on the pitch. Crap club of course, but he's obviously skilled, adds something.

We NEED to add people soon.

lol hes proved countless times that he doesnt learn his lessons. its a case of when, certainly not if, he gets into some sort of trouble

birmingham only kept him because he was by far there best player

People rarely change, and Pennant is no different. He has had problems with his actions at Leeds, Arsenal and Birmingham. Why wouldn't he have problems at 'Pool? He has great talent but he is arrogant, ignorant, lazy and a chav. I can't see him turning into something special.

Birmingham has done a great job getting paydays for Pennant and Heskey. I don't know how they did it.

He actually might be dangerous at Liverpool. Pennant led the league in crosses last year, and if Lurch can get his head on some of them they'll score goals. I think its a good signing for 'Pool, despite his problems.

Regardless of whether or not Pennant behaves himself, will he really get to play that much? Yes, Liverpool finally has a natural right-sided midfielder, but considering their quantity of strikers it makes the most sense for them to play 4-4-2, especially at home, and having Gerrard on the right to accomodate Sissoko and Alonso is still probably Benitez's first option when playing 4-4-2.

So it's nice to get the cash, and I don't think Pennant's acquisition will help Liverpool all that much. It could be a different story had they gotten Joaquin or someone of that class.

Quantity of their strikers? Getting one respectable striker in Bellamy isn't enough to change the fact that Crouch, Fowler, Sinama Pongolle and Mellor aren't what I would call strikers with quality.

Of course, if they get someone like Kuyt that might change. Might.

Jermaine Pennant is a very good talent... I think if he starts good at LFC for the first couple of months he will become dangerous..

He reminds me a bit of Alan Smith.. now that he's moved on to a bigger club he will become responsible... that's what I feel personally.

Well 'Pool actually bought Pennant for his crosses, no doubt.. with Pet Crouch hanging around the area, Pennant's crosses wil ldefinitely be useful ..
It doesnt mean he's a great player , but i'm sure he'll do wats expected of him .. but 6M ??!! - i thought that was a little too much L'Pool was paying ..
