I don't care which position he plays. He could be equally effective as an outside defender, much like Sanneh was four years ago. The fact is that we (along with you) identified him as a player to be reckoned with when he was playing for the U-17/U-20's. The fact that he has developed into a monster central defender doesn't dissuade our argument one bit. We may have been wrong in saying where he ultimately was going to play, but that happens to a lot of players. Landy Cakes was a pure forward during his youth sojourn but has now settled nicely into a midfield attacker. Players evolve.
Fair enough but my point at the time is that he was not going to move up above the college level at right back. There was no great future to see, nothing to be prescient about. One can't say "well I saw it" because he never demonstrated "it". All I heard on BS was what a fine outside back the guys was an what a fool I was for saying otherwise. My point then was that he was not a good outside back, just getting by on athletisism, but with his speed, size and heading ability, could make a good centerback in the pros. I stuck to my guns through his time in France and took pissy comments in stride.
Once he left for Metz, it was pretty obvious he was gonna be groomed as a centerback. I know there were folks who maintained he could still play RB in a 442, but I don't think I was one of 'em. You just don't see many 6-4 wing backs at the elite levels. (Or any level, for that matter.)
Awesome video . Gooch is an amazing player that still has so much potential . I cant wait to see him get older , grow ( even bigger ) and become a more experienced player that can be the anchor in our defense . GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCH !!!
what a difference 30 days make... he's a fantastic American player. But nothing more. Still has a ways to go.
He 2nd in BH sales in Belgium (after Sergio Conceicao), I think they made only 500 of them and the Stadium stores are sold out. That EBay shop is the only place you can find it.
