"Trying to get him on the field somehow" is not the same as "trying to turn him into a midfielder." As I recall, Jaqua was not a disaster at outside mid. Obviously it's not his best position and he was no Beasley out there, but he wasn't the worst outside mid ever. I can't believe anyone here would question a decision by the all-knowing Peter Nowak. /heresy
I wasn't using the Nate at midfield experiment as a specific example to illustrate Wynalda’s misguided thoughts, like Sarachan he generates new material on a game-by-game basis, there is so much to choose from. To the best of my recollection, however, in the case of the midfield conversion move by Sarachan, it continued even after Ralph was gone.
Jaqua is still growing his game, but I think the following are still ahead of him at this moment as heir apparent to McBride 1. (tie) Casey or Cooper 3. No one 4. Jaqua In other words, he's got a lot to prove yet. But here's hoping he shines (in likely limited minutes) against Chelsea. He's our (poor man's) version of Carlton Cole.
I wouldn't be surprised that a Fire player on the roster was mandated due to the location of the match. I wouldn't take any of them. Pete (isn't saying necessarily that all the Fire players suck, but rather that there are better players in every position elsewhere in the league)
I believe his personality, dim wit and the ever-present air of goat smegma have already gauranteed that reproduction is not a concern.
For the love all things Holy!! Nate an Allstar??/ Allstar what??? Flopper!?! Grass eater?? Coach blower?? He has my vote for best impersonation of an old lady who has had her purse stolen when he runs, but an Allstar soccer player he is not. What a joke
Are all Dc fans as dumb as you?? You think so?? You can have him for Nowak. That should be an even trade. LOL
Still growing his game?????!?!!?!? HE FREAKING 26!!!!! he should have had GAME 2 years ago. If you dont have game by 26 you arent gonna have it. Give me a break
I gotta agree with El Jefe on this one, this definately smells of having at least one Chicago player at the game. I mean, can anyone honestly say Nate Jaqua has had a better season than Kenny Cooper? Who would Fire fans rather have on their team, Kenny Cooper or Nate Jaqua? I like Nate, but I think the answer is obvious. By the way, Nate is only 24, not 26. He'll be 25 at the end of October.
Given the ticket prices for this game and the fact there is only one Fire player and that player is Nate Jaqua I think I'll be spending the weekend at home catching up on housework.
To Everyone: I told you he's good. Chelsea are a big team, even thier little guys are big, Essien, Joe Cole, Gallas. Nate is a good second half option with the right coach.
So the league finally figured out that they had an All-Star game in Chicago - with no Fire players. This is a total sop thrown to the hosting team and says nothing about Nate himself.
Actually, it says a fair amount about Nate, and quite a bit less about the other 10-15 regulars who weren't picked by Nowak to represent the Fire.
