Thanks albionroad! Especially for the Euro 2008 and European club tournaments info. A couple of questions: -How many teams qualify for the finals out of Euro 2008 group play? If only two, then it will be tough. (Side note: I lost a lot of respect for Holland in that fiasco vs. Portugal. I hope BG takes it to them!) -Levski begins the CL in round 2. Is that a round in which if they lose, they drop into UEFA Cup play? That does happen for some teams doesn't it? (Admittedly, I'm not fully versed in how the CL and UEFA Cup works in the earlier rounds.)
The top two from each group qualify. Not for round 2. The round 3 losers do get a spot in the UEFA Cup. Here are the details on their possible opponents... http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seedcl2006.html Levski are seeded for the 2nd round and the 3rd round (assuming they make it). This is definitely good news as it increases the chance of an easier draw but as you can see there are still some potentially tough opponents - Fenerbahce, Fiorentina, Osasuna, Spartak Moscow, etc. Nonetheless, I would have to say this is the best chance Bulgaria's had of getting a team in the Champions League in a while.
Hi, Does anyone know the date that the Bulgarian Supercup between CSKA and Levski will be played? I want to go see it, but need to be sure of the date to make travel arrangements. Thanks
Spent about 15 minutes looking around but couldn't find anything. I would suggest posting something on the CSKA or Levski official message boards and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.
Intertoto Cup 2nd round Farul 3:2 (2-1, 1-1) Lokomotiv Plovdiv UEFA Cup 1st Qualifying Round Matches are July 13th and July 20th Lokomotiv Sofia-Makedonia Skopje (Macedonia) Dinamo Tirana (Albania)-CSKA Sofia Koper (Slovenia)-Litex Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round Matches are July 26th and August 2nd Levski will play the winner of Sioni Bolnisi (Georgia) and Baku (Azerbaijan)
Date isnt announced officially because this game should be played on 30.07 BUT Levski Sofia is playing they CL qualifier on 2.08 and they want rest before the CL match. Strange but last year CSKA was in the same possition as Levski is now but they played that Supercup game on schedule-30.07 PS: maybe Supercup game wont be played(no, no, no )

As always, thanks for the info albionroad. So if Levski go through they play Chievo Verona. I have always like Chievo Verona - great lore surrounding the team (when donkeys fly, etc.) and have held their own of late in Italy.
Not bad. Chievo are no Milan ot Juve, and they don't really have many people going to their games. That's practically two home games for Levski. IF of course they don't get punished for what some fans did against Sioni. From the teams in the Uefa cup I expect 6 wins.
Fans threw smoke bombs and flares onto the field in the second half, no idea what started it. Apparently several policemen were injured.
Basically, 10-20 fans decided to imitate the Inter fans. Because of them, we may have to play in front of an empty stadium if we, hopefully, qualify for the group stages. No people were hurt, so I'd predict a one game ban
I wonder how good Chievo is. Because Italian teams are always hard to beat, but this is not Milan or Inter after all. IMO this is the best shot Levski or any other Bulgarian team has had to qualify to the Champions League in a long time, and they better do everything possible to do it. Of course, if they lose, it's good that they are put in the UEFA cup, at least to continue the European adventure. Samo Levski!
Levski beats Chievo by 2-0!!!!! This is the big opportunity for Bulgarian team to reach the CL!!!!! Unbelievable! Levski has a chance to beat an Italian team, which is HUGE. Fingers Crossed.
This is amazing! But of course, I try to measure my words, because we still need to play the away game, and once again, I know nothing about the Chievo team. But from what I understood, not only did we win 2-0, but apparently we should have been given an additional penalty kick, and the team played pretty well for the whole game. If they manage to get a good score from Italy, then we will finally be in the CL! That will be incredible, but I'm afraid that if I start dreaming of Levski beating Barcelona or Chelsea, we'll fail to qualify, lol fingers crossed as you say
hey guys! Do any of you guys have the roster for the Bulgaria soccer national squad to face off Wales at Swansea Park on 16 August?????? Urgent guys!!!!! I need this shit for stats work.
goal for Levski! Telkyiski just scored from a low shot, this is great. Now Chievo needs to score 4 goals to beat us!
YEEEESSSSS!!!! Levski is through!!!!!!!! They could have won, but they played the match very conservative after the 50th minute. CL, we are coming!!!!!! A GREAT day for Bulgarian football!!!!
^Yes, it was a shame, after the second goal, they just gave up, and let Chievo score two stupid goals, when Levski could have won. And then in the end with the unnecessary yellow and red cards... but what do we care, Levski is through! At least if they'll lose, they'll lose with style against the world's best. With some luck and skills, they can try to at least get the 3rd spot for the UEFA. Either way, they'll get a lot of money to invest for the future
