lol this is exactly the type of retarded comments i'm talking about.

ghana have a good chance to beat brazil, i would go out and bet on them either beating them or losing to brazil after a great display.

No, you're wrong. You can't score one goal in three matches and expect to advance. It wasn't the ref's fault that they couldn't score.

"one game changes everything"--- how true is that!!!!

USA 0-3 chech republic = we're not as good as we think we are
USA 1- 1 italy = wild game, bad calls galore, false sense of security for USA
USA 1- 2 ghana = we suck at the world level, lots of work to do!!

IN OTHER WORDS, GET RID OF BRUCE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Onyewu is not even a hacker... He out-muscles people. He's gotta learn not to use his hand so much. A damn sight different from hacking.

Donovan outclassed everybody on the pitch last weekend except Pirlo. Including Totti and Toni.

And I could be mistaken, and if that was not your intent then I apologize, but it's beginning to sound just a bit like this game has brought the trolls out from underneath their bridges.

I have to say congratulations Ghana but this wasn't the Ghana I was hoping to see today. A craptacular game all around and both teams should have been eliminated for the way they played today.

Ghana will have to pick up their play if they want to have a chance against Brasil. And Brasil need to start playing seriously if they want to go far into the tournament...both games by Brasil so far have been largely dissapointing!

lets be real here a coach shoud be judged on successes in the world cup. if you ask me this was a step back from 2002 even if the US lucked out in 2002 which it did. Lets not forget they lost to Poland and only advanced thanks to the south koreans. then they got the gift from the soccer gods in 2002 when the drew MEX for the rd of 16.

arena's tactics stunted and isolated his players. im surprised theyre werent more player greivances but i anticipate we will here them soon

i always believed that tactics should be tailored to players and not the other way around. Arena did the latter and it should cost him his job

That's why, given the outcome, I'm sad about the suspension for Essein. With him and their two strikers back in the match, Ghana/Brazil would've been great. As it is, I think Brazil will get through pretty easily.

    Has Arena resigned yet?

I think Lewis and Convey both had good showings. Why Bruce decided to replace Lewis WITH Convey is beyond me.

Johnson went in, fell down a few times and was never heard from again. Awesome.

I think Reyna and Poop-- err Pope ;) shouldn't have been on that roster. It would open up some space for players that we know have potential (Twellman anybody?).

I hope Ghana gets creamed after all that pissing and moaning and fake injuries. I would say they didn't deserve the game, but it was never ours at any point...

    Never thought I'd ever say this...Go Brazil :(. F**k.

Bruce is going to give some post-match remarks.

    His first sentence should be:

"I let the team down by not putting the players in a position to succeed."

Essentially refs ruined two of the three US games with brain dead calls. No way in hell was that a penalty. Ghana+Marcus Merk 2 USA 1.

It could have been an amazing second half, alas the ref and the US coaching staff ruined what could have been.

We'll never know how things would have played out without an incompetant ref however we can say that the two teams that consistently played the best soccer in E advanced. Just quit with the freaking diving, I thought FIFA was going to cut out the middle man and just park ambulances and therapists by either side of the field to handle the persistant psychological issues requiring Ghana players to fall down and feign injury every 90 seconds.

Good luck against Brazil, and please advance to South Africa in '10, we need less of Togo and Tunisia and sides of that sort and more like you, and Ivory Coast, without the b.s. diving though.

First of all: congrats to Ghana. You did what you had to win this game. You didn't play great, but without your 2 best players, you should do well against Brazil.

Second of all: The US is a 3 steps forward, 2 steps back team. 1994 we did ok, 1998 was a disaster, 2002 we did better, 2006 we did better than 1998 not good enough at all. I thought it highly unlikely before the WC that we would get out of our group. I think we need a new approach (coach) at this point.

I disagree. Essien is key together with Appiah.

Ghana need a full strength squad against Brasil. Fortunately they will only be missing one key player and have a decent sub for Essien (Eric Addo).

Re: The Usa Has No Heart; Fire Bruce Arena

The sad thing is that Reyna, Donovan and Beas aren't crap (not that they're great), but the team sure played poorly. Arena is history.

When they asked him to comment first he said he was too upset to and deferred. I don't blame him.

i'm not gonna get into bashing the refs cos there are "bad" calls in every sport. can't change that with all the technology in the world. refs are human, they will make mistakes.

but overall, you can't say that the us didn't end up exactly where they belong in their group. if they were any other team, playing the way they played, people would be up in arms about them making in through. they didn't show much, to be fair.

sure, there was TONS of hype leading up to the wc. magazine covers, interviews, etc. and these guys were supposed to be the most experienced squad. but these veterans didn't show the skill that was needed at this level, or the heart to fight through all the obstacles thrown in front of them in the tournament. they could've gone out swinging. but the impression they left the world was not a favorable one.

there are other teams who are fighting against "bad" refs or moronic managers, poor strategies, cards and injuries, poor play, fading super stars, etc. some of those teams have found a way to struggle into the last 16, where the us has not.

To the whiners who are blaming the REFs, the US had no chance of advancing as long as they were playing for draws. You cannot advance with just three points (three draws). Bruce Arenas was just completely off dude!! He didn't come to the world cup to score goals.

Sorry, i know this is getting boring, but Muntari (one of the suspended players) is not a striker but a midfielder. The starting strikers are Amoah and Gyan.
