I think it's Godard's weakest film but still interesting.

I definitely found it interesting. However, everything else I have seen of his I would put as 5 star worthy, but not this.

I meant to ask you about A Woman is a Woman. How many times have you seen it? The first time you see it, it feels like it's breaking all the rules of the Hollywood Musical. The fifth time you see it, it feels like it's obeying all the rules of the Hollywood Musical. Incredibly rewarding on multiple viewings.

A good story about it: I once programmed a Musical film series- a different musical each week. There was a group of about ten old ladies who came to every Saturday morning screening. I started off with seven or eight Hollywood musicals, and of course, the old ladies enjoyed them. Then I sprang A Woman is a Woman on them not knowing what their reaction would be. They spent all 90 minutes just cackling and giggling at the screen. I'm not sure I've ever seen a group enjoy a movie more.

I've watched A Woman is a Woman twice and just ordered the Criterion DVD from DVD Planet. (I do wish that the Criterion of that had better extras, though I loved the short with Brialy.)

I must admit I am a bit unfamiliar with musicals and what makes some good, bad, or classics, or whatever. The first time through I was just taken aback, trying to watch it a bit to critically I think. For instance, I was stuck on why the hell Legrand's score would come in and out for brief spurts. The second time I watched it the morning after I was just smiling the whole damn time. I think I laughed out loud more during that than any Godard film. Stuff like Band of Outsiders, Masculin Feminin, and Breathless, I just wtached with a shit faced grin the whole time. In A Woman is A Woman I was actually laughing out loud and keeping my roomate awake.

A midnight showing for charity on the occasion of Joss Whedon's birthday. I enjoyed slightly more than the first time I saw it.

went to see PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION last night. very dreamy, a wonderful dream: it translated well to the screen: a world of dreams where foreclosures by tryrants who cannot dream- are not final but only provisional.

meryl streep is the real angel once again. very dreamy.

if you at all care for the radio show,,,,take good medicine and go see this.

On principal I may just have to refuse to name any Godard film with Anna Karina his weakest, so Alphaville and Le Petit Soldat are both in the safe zone.

Have to get around to seeing Petit Soldat.

Yesterday I was off of work so I saw Wages of Fear and Bob Le Flambeur. Didn't go to work again today, and when I woke up Pickup On South Street was just starting. Little hungover when watching Pickup, but I liked it alot. Wages and Bob were outstanding.

If Gringo is reading, I have a question about Wages of Fear

[Result]Any gripes with the ending? I understand that throughout the whole film, Montand's character was the most reckless out of the 4, but I can't help but scratch my head. In your opinion, did Clouzot have to end the movie like this?[/Result]
