Wow! When I voted yesterday and posted this thread, he had 1% and about 1200 votes. Good work, guys! Let's keep moving him up the list.
Hey guys, Mexican fan here... After watching Ecuador's three group games, the player that has impressed me most is Valencia. I'm hoping he ends up on a top European club team after the Cup, and he succeeds in Europe. I also wouldn't mind seeing him on a Mexican team, although Europe would be much better for him. Anyways, GOOD LUCK AGAINST THE ENGLISH!!!
Hey thanx brother! Nice to see classy comments like this once in a while! yes, Valencia is on loan to Recreativo Huelva, who just ascended to La Liga, but he is under contract to Villarreal for 5 seasons! So, let's see if he has done enough to get a starting role! He is a wonderful midfield who lacks nothing at all. By the way, thanx for wishin us luck! I wish Mexico luck too!

WOW... u guys know if FIFA is going to give the award based JUST off the website poll, or is the media going to be involved somehow? i remember seeing messi and cristiano ronaldo with most votes, and the next day i seen it valencia was way ahead of them he deserves it. hopefully he can show the world what hes made of against the english. i'll be rooting for ecuador
http://fifaworldcup.yahoo.com/06/en/w/bypa/award.html Top 3 vote-getters will be added to a list of 3 chosen by FIFA's Technical Study Group, and that final list of 6 players will be used by the TSG to choose a winner. I really hope Valencia made enough of an impression on the TSG. I'd hate to see the award go to a player like Ronaldo or Messi simply because of what country they play for.
Well, it looks like Valencia was overtaken by Cristiano Ronaldo votes. If it's true that a commitee will pick the winner from the top three finishers, I still doubt Valencia will win.
I guess is also unfair right? Valencia should be playing in Manchester and Ronaldo in Deportivo what? Auicas is the awful name you use for futbol teams?? hahahahah!!
so now its a crime to support a player of ours...just red card ese mal parido so we can all b chill again
And the final 6 are... * BARNETTA Tranquillo (SUI) * FABREGAS Cesc (ESP) * MESSI Lionel (ARG) * PODOLSKI Lukas (GER) * RONALDO Cristiano (POR) * VALENCIA Luis (ECU) It's all up to the TSG now. The winner should be announced today. Personally, I think it will go to Podolski, but I'm still rooting for Valencia to pull off the improbable upset and win the award.
Podolski wins. Not a big surprise, I guess. But congratulations to Valencia for winning the popular vote.
