if we get a top class DM it's going allow Scholes to be more free and he's going to able to do what he does best attack ! and i still think giggs has something left in his legs--scholes and giggys are our silent leaders in our team. top class pros who go out every week and get the job done. if we sign ribery and say sell ruud ; and saha can stay injury free; we could be looking at this

    Ronaldo------Scholes----DM-------Ribery/Giggs

    -------Saha------Rooney------

With rossi, smithy come off the bench and park and Richardson for the wings players

How is he the second coming of Zidane?

On another side note, I would pick Ronaldinho over Rooney 100 times out of 100. Roll your eyes like a bitch (or Voldemoort) if you want.

I eagerly await the inevitable DS thread where we discuss how the aerodynamics of Ribery's wack hair would affect our tactics and style of play.

    It's quite clearly "Abra Kadabra!"

Pfft, amateurs. Go watch some more David Copperfield tapes, then come talk to me.

    Stop thread jacking! :p

But seriously, no I have not, and I refuse to read that mindless drivel. Novels in general are really not my thing, I'm a pretty much a no-nonense hard news kind of guy.

That's why I don't comment in threads like these. My opinion > other peoples' (especially when most of them are just regurgitations anyway).

I'll keep that in mind. Leto what are your opinions on the war in Iraq and global warming?

The war in iraq is The USA' fault.
Once again the USA must also acknowledge its major role in the burning of fossil fuels.

I once again watched ribery play last night for 15 minutes against china. he came on for viera and was playing right through the middle. He is a cross breed of park and ronaldo. he has the inteligent passing of park and some of the quick feet of ronaldo.

At the start of the thread it said we made an "official" bid for him. How come i have not heard anything on that.

I think he is damn fine player and moving onto a stronger league would do wonders for his career. If OM were to let him go, I know it would come with a hefty price. He is the best player they have.

Two fairly reputable English newspapers said David Gill made a verbal offer to Diouf (Marseilles chairman) of 9m for Ribery. That's as much as we know. Could be rubbish.

I like the way you think, you can be Head of Assassination (first job - Zinni). Just give me time to grow a beard first...

Sounds good Leto. Zinni has just pissed me off by saying he wants Holland to lose all their games so its only a matter of time before its curtains for him. *Evil laugh*.

Ribery slightly dissappointing in the match. Saw a lot of the ball in the first half but maybe showed a lack of composure a couple of times in the penalty area. Got a bit quiet in the second half and got taken off (maybe taking of Wiltord would have been better at that stage).
To be fair this was his first competitive match for France and he was no worse than pretty much all other French players. France were poor.

If he plays against South Korea and Togo I am sure he will have a great time. Both those teams are awful defensively

I still think he would be a great signing for United. Maybe this display will calm some of the hype around him though.

Having watched Ribery in the France -Swiss game, I would say leave well alone. He does have skills but he is easily pressured off the ball. I thought this kid could hold his own. If he comes, he will wither in the premiership.

Agree that this performance will keep his price tag relatively low. If he gets muscled out by South Korea in the next match he will be transfer listed by Marseille anyway ;)

I wonder if Florentino Perez would have bought him if he truly became the next Zidane. I mean, remember what he said about Ronaldinho when Beckham was bought.

I hope they don't get him. If not us I hope he ends up at Lyon.
