Hey, remember that convo we had at the Carolina Challenge cup a couple years back about how OVER RATED Reyna is?
Donovan's been invisible for all but one great run. Can't win when "our best player" (as all the ESPN guys refer to him) isn't doing anything.
No, I agree with you; they have done little to impress me today. Someone has to step up. The US looks stale and the people that we hoped to be the playmakers have been anything but. It looks disorganized. Playing devil's advocate: Our defense is not marking up - the Czech's are slipping through a lot of holes. Was that second goal all Gooch's fault (because that's how it sounds accorinding to the announcers) or was it also due in part to poor marking? I think the latter, and I hope I'm not the only one.
Right. Koller only needed a half to get the ultimate victory over Onyewu: a goal. In a World Cup game, that's often gonna be enough for the win.
I think that too. That last one, if he turns in and has a better first touch, he's wide open to the goal.
i know the czechs are good, that seems obvious at this point. but why does it seem like our guys can't "calm down"? their touch is crap, decision making is crap. reyna has been the only one to add a touch of class, besides that, we look like a high school team. i know they're bunkering and making things difficult, not a lot of space is available, but we don't look like professional soccer players capable of organizing an attack.
No courage. No ideas. No attack up the right flank. No give and go. No running at defenders. Just one ball after the other LOBBED into the waiting hands of Cech. Whose idea was it to put Bease on the right? Whose idea was it to use one forward with a wandering Donovan? Why didn't Keller come out on the first goal? So much angst. So much anger. So few ways to healthily express it.
This is just horrible soccer being played by us. I can barely even stand to watch this. We can't string more then 2 passes together. We kick aimless long balls constantly. Horrible first touches. Absolutly disgraceful
