"Second, Dogmatagram's posts are intentionally obfuscatory -- I'm not sure why." *** I have no idea what you mean. His comments in the Q&A are clearly noteworthy and imply that he may be out. It's weird, and obviously I hope they were recorded prior to the Angola match, which some are claiming. Sorry if I'm not making my point; I'm not trying to be vague
Wasn't Howard in the PFA Premiereship Best 11 at the end of 2003 - 2004???? I think he was the only Man U guy on the squad. Had a good outing against Venezuela...Looked very good. As for Keller being injured...it's odd....because there was a cryptic reference to Tim Howard in the Angola match that made no sense at all. But it looks like Yahoo cleared that quote up....at the very least we know Howard played today.
The practice game was today, not yesterday.. Anyway, we have nothing solid on it yet.. My only question is if he has no injury at all why didn't he just say that when the reported asked about injury?
Keller has been a team player.......those commets everyone got upset about a short while back were nothing big or anything to be upset about. The players certainly aren't upset about it and seem to respect him for saying it. There's been so much coverage that I forget exactly where to point to exact quotes along these lines, but the players look up to Keller and almost see him as a coach. I think it was LD on The Drive to Germany this weekend who explained how Keller will take teammates aside and tell them when they're not doing well and will get on them about focusing and raising their game at times during practices and such. Everyone should stop with this nonsense about Keller not being a team player and that he's saying things to upset team chemistry.....it's obviously wrong!
NBlue said (inexplicably): "Are you just trying to get attention or is this supposed to be funny. I don't get it -- and repeatedly bumping your own thread is kinda sad. He did not in any way imply that something was going on. Apparently you elected to infer this to perpetuate this silly thread. Here is Kasey yesterday" Dude, I realize he was OK yesterday, and believe me, I'm not trying to get attention by bumping my own thread. The KK podcast came up tonight and is dated June 5. As I've indicated since MY ORIGINAL POST, I would like to know whether this was recorded prior to today's match, in which he reportedly started and was replaced by Howard. If you've listened to the podcast I think you'd agree that there is an implication that he is injured and will start or not start depending upon Bruce. This surprised me to say the least, but comported with Howard's otherwise odd appearance today, prompting me to post for others' thoughts. And I've been conversing since then. Sorry if that irritated you or made you think I'm craving the attention of this website.
FWIW, a Keller quote from the podcast was used in a wire story on the weather in Germany that looks to have first crossed around 5pm EDT, which strongly implies that comment was made after the Angola game (which, given the game start of around 11am EDT, seems reasonable). I doubt the AP would have sat on that quote for seven or eight hours if it had been made before the game, but it's a pretty generic quote and is one of many from different sources in the story, so I guess that's possible. http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/mls/article/0,2777,DRMN_23926_4752781,00.html
My last response on this worthless thread. The podcast was before the match, not after. Kasey played in part of the scrimmage as did Tim -- as did many players -- there were unlimited substitutions. The reporter asked him first whether he thought he would start and then added under her breath "there's been some talk of injury . . ." I'm not sure he even heard that second part but he responded in classic Keller fashion -- if you can't tell he's not hurt by listening to the cocky (and I like it) way he answers the question "Well, I don't know. I'm not picking the team. I'm not in a position to pick the team. If chosen I'm going to do the best I possible can." If you listen to the tone of his voice, there is no way he is hurt -- frankly I'm not sure he even heard the end of the question as she tailed off. Plus if there was "talk of an injury" before the Angola match two things would have happenned (1) we'd have heard the talk and (2) he wouldn't have played at all in it. Please now resume the chicken little thread. Personally, I feel there is enough to worry about without having to make things up out of whole cloth.
You don't know that. Check my post above for counterevidence. Why is it so hard to fathom that Kasey picked up some sort of knock in the scrimmage today, had to be replaced, and then was asked about an injury situation and gave some type of vague answer that wasn't a denial?
The interview occurred at or before 3:30 Germany time. The game started after 5pm Germany time. http://www.ussoccer.com/articles/viewArticle.jsp_280957.html I'll be interested what happens to see as this thread progresses.
You should be punished for starting a thread with a title like this one. I hope you are raped by a fully grown walrus with a mean streak. You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Knave again. I actually felt a burning need to have a drink earlier too... I don't know if i'm gonna make it til Friday. I've had the USA highlight montage from 2002 playing on repeat on my desktop / palmpilot for the past 24 hours.
If that's the situation, case closed.. He wouldn't have played if he was nursing any injury to worry about...
Because it didn't happen. Look, I'm certainly willing to give credence to any rumor that has a shred of viable evidence but this one has none. The other players interviewed included Demarcus Beasley, Eddie Lewis, Eddie Pope, Big Marcus, Eddie Johnson and a few others -- if you poke around on ussoccer.com for a moment or two you can figure it out -- its not rocket science.
Well, there's evidence that there was a media day before the game, so I guess you could infer that the podcast (given the din in the background) was recorded during that media session. Thanks for the link. I guess we'll find out soon enough either way.
Aaaaggghhhh You guys are killing me -- I can't believe I am responding to this. There's not "evidence" -- that's when the interview occurred!!! That's when all the interviews occurred!! I suppose in your bizzarro world of US Soccer the US did the interviews at 3:30 then went to the match came back, showered, and then held a second interview session around 8-9pm where only Kasey Keller was present and dozens of reporters proceeded to ask him many questions none of which involved his play or his comfort in playing the match that he had just attended. Oh, and I should add that all the reporters came back to the hotel on a German holiday and after a scrimmage that they were banned from watching. You know what. You guys have convinced me. Kasey Keller is hurt. He's hurt and we're just being coy about the whole thing so no one knows the Rimando is actually going to be keeping for the US at the Cup -- we've flown him in under cover of darkness and used the old nightime press conference on a German holiday after a closed scrimmage trick to distract everyone from the fact that Nicky Rimando is coming in to win the world cup for us. I don't know how I could have been so blind. Thank you, thank you for allowing me to see the strategy -- BA is more brilliant than I ever could have imagined.

I don't know if many of you guys will actually make it to the world cup before you decide to jump off a bridge.
No doubt!......look how many posts the thread on Beasly being "irritated" got before they figured out he was taken out of context.
"If that's the situation, case closed.. He wouldn't have played if he was nursing any injury to worry about" Absolutely agree, and while it is of course speculative, I'm now optimistic that the interview occurred prior to the game. (Sorry NBlue, for subjecting you to the horrors of having to view this thread, and I hope you're doing okay.) My initial concern derived from the fact that (a) the podcastwas posted only recently (well after the game), and (b) Howard reportedly replaced KK during the game. As NBlue may have overlooked, my initial post asked if anyone knew which happened first -- the podcast or the game. Anyway, mybe I'm exhibiting wishful thinking, but as I listen to it again it does sound much more like a "media day" in the background than a post-game locker room, and there is no follow up on the chick's weird Q&A with him, and there's nothing from USSoccer. Thus, I'm now pretty optimistic that NBlue's suggestion (so graciously presented) that this was pre-match was correct. I do, however, suspect that KK has some sort of injury situation -- just not preclusive, and I suspect the Howard replacement was not coincidental in this regard. FWIW
Uh, thanks. That's been made clear already. Sorry to add fuel to what seems to have been an erroneous fire...
Don't try and trick me again. You have convinced me and I believe you now. Nicky Rimando will be starting for us on June 12th and the Czechs will have no idea what hit them. This is the best gambit BA has ever produced and we will all be in awe of another bold and brilliant coaching manuever. You have allowed me to see the light and for that I am thankful. I'll miss Kasey, sadly, but what can one say . . . c'est la vie.
