i find it hard when i have my back to the goal, to turn and score. How can i make this easier. does anyone have any tricks and tips to help me.
Get a friend or 2 and set up the situation. Practice your first touch, practice shielding off the defender, practice turning, practice some body and ball fakes, practice shooting quickly, then put it all together.
usually in this case. Keep it simple. Play the way your facing nad hit a pass backwards. But if ur feelnig greedy the simplest way is to keep the ball in front of you and turn towrds goa, whiel keeping the defender on ur back the whole time.l. Basically pivoting aroudn where the defedner is. Kinda hard to explain. But ur just "helicoptering" the defender in slow motion. Imagine that your gonig to stick ur hand out and use that to reach aorudn the defenders back and touch thier opposite shoulder.
Try seeing some highlights of Eto'o and/or Ruud. Both are pretty great at turning and taking shots when their backs were initially towards the goal. For example... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8tGLHXR9aQ&search=eto turn I also remember he had an excellent turn in the Champions League final, though hit the post (after a slight deflection from the keeper).
Just saw this in another thread posted on here recently... Henry - http://youtube.com/watch?v=jtslrKwtGXs&search=henry goal
i had one person on my team, who almost every time he had his back to the goal, he would flick it over both his and the defender behind him's head. i imagine this wouldnt work all the time, but he usually made it work. once they started catching on and giving him a little room, he'd just turn around and blast it in.
I have one trick/move for you, but it will probably only work once per game. When the ball is rolling to you step towards the ball and flick it with the outside of your foot around the defender, but at the same time you run around the defender on the opposite side. So essentially the defender has to chase you or the ball and as this moves appears as if you are doing a touch pass the defender will most likely go with you, but you already have a step on him and the ball is there for you to strike a shot as soon as you get to it.
Like So? . That's pretty hard, even if you try a cruder version of it, which most of us probably have to do. You can always look for the panna. Make a stepover with your right foot (/ fake with your entire body), while shielding the ball with your left. Make sure he steps with it, then move your left foot in the same direction and tap it with your right foot through his legs. Even if it doesn;t go through, he won't expect it, won't be able to control it and it'll bounce back to you, so you can try something else. I did this to someone the other day, failed the first time, got it back, tried again and it worked
^^Wow, thanks, that was new. I always knew Bergkamp had amazing vision and awareness, but this turn was absolutely world class in terms of vision, thinking ahead, and technique. I'll try to see if I can find clips of some of the turns that I do in games.
How the hell did Bergkamp not hit himself with that flick? Rooney is pretty good at turning on a defender, but it doesnt hurt to have ridiculous quickness...
today in the iran-portugal game....deco made a very nice turn by flicking the ball with his right and taking it behind his left and then turn left and accelerate.
Something like that would work, but I'm not so sure that you have to play it with the inside of your foot and bust out a 360. We're not all Bergkamp Eto'o is great with those, as is Luca Toni. Ronaldinho had a couple of good ones, and if you want to dig up the archives, Alan Shearer and Mat LeTissier made a living off of it sometimes (along with being amazing)
Well, what I'm doing now (when I'm not facing a really good defender, who will definitly know when to bite) is that when I get the ball on my right foot with my back against a defender, I'll step into the ball, get some space. I don't stop the ball, but rather let it glide along with my right feet as I turn around standing on my left leg (turning right, making a 180 with the ball). More often than not, a poor defender will step along to the right side (when you face him) and he has his legs wide open.
As a target I get into those situations all the time. I'd say you should keep it simple. "Obey the procentages"! Forget all the flicks and hi-lightreel -moves. They work every once in a while, but if ur playing against good defence you will lose the ball too many times and find yourself on the bech because there are usuallu more than one defender around you and it's really hard to know where the other one's are when the one on your back is pressing you. So my tip for you is that you have three basic options. 1) keep the ball to your self at any cost and look for someone to make a drop-pass (every coaches dream I guess... ) 2) shield the ball and control the defender with your hand/elbow. Then make a little fake to the side and flick the ball (slanting) past the defender (opposite side to the move you made). Here it's better if the ball bounces a little so that it's harder to intercept. Next step for you is to get your shoulder down so that the defender won't be able to tackle you... and go for the ball. Usually after this kind of turn it's time for a shot or a pass... there won't be that much time or room in the box-area. 3) sometimes it's very effective to cause trouble for defender by backing up and crashing into him/her before the ball comes to you. You have to do this by keeping your eyes on the ball and without using your hands. Use your back and crash into the d-man (don't exaggerate this move or you'll get whistled ) just to make him/her come of balance. Once you've done this you need to take ball with you. Use the leg that is opposite to the direction that your are going to turn. Touch the ball preferably with the outerside and direct it past the defender. NOTE: It's very important to extend your "inner-side" hand in front of the defender while making the turn. By using your hand (and NOT grabbing jersey or something like that) you may be able to build a fence-like shield for a fraction of a second - which should be enough for you to get to the ball and put it in the net. Once you've done the crashing once it usually makes defenders angry and more alert so next time they'll probably tackle you from behind... so make sure to keep those knees soft and to keep that innocent, sad and sore look on your angelface. If the defender is not that good... THEN you can try all those fancy moves and special tricks.
Note to any would be defenders on here (talking to you, mike) If a forward tries this...knee him in the back of his knee, while cleary showing your ref you're not doing anything with your hands It's not very classy, but nor is crashing into a defender like that. We innocent harmless centre backs need to stand up for ourselves
