I went to the game last Friday and watched the Sunday night game. After the first game, Avery has figured out how to play them (more defense, less run-and-gun). Dallas has such depth and is constantly rotating that it appears that the Suns are tiring near the end. I look for another win tonight.
Dirk's amazing. The only thing that would've topped it for me is if Dirk did "the robot" Peter Crouch style at the end http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVm3zhrDeZw
Do you think Hitch would go for putting the Mavs game on the 1 of the 2 jumbotron screens at PHP during the FCD game? wouldnt that be the perfect
********ing TNT. They listed the last championship, if any, for the various Dallas teams and included the Sidekicks but not FCD.
Should Dallas win the whole thing, Academy in the DFW area will do another open after store hours to sell Mavs gear. Tonight the store I'm at made $20k just in mavs stuff.
Uhhh....what were Shaq's stats on Friday night? 28 points and like 15 rebounds? The Mavs are an awesome team with great perimeter play but let's not kid ourselves here. Against the Heat you guys will NOT be able to do any inside post-up play whatsoever. Shaq is DAMN athletic and will just wear you down all game. You'll have to rely on Dirk's outside shooting to get the job done. I think the key here is that the Heat are going to do whatever it takes to disrupt the passing lanes and make sure that Dirk gets as little of the ball as possible. Furthermore, you are seriously underestimating Gary Payton. He completely shut Rip Hamilton down during the ECF. You don't think he can do that to Josh Howard either? He's not going to be getting many open looks for outside shots at all. When this Heat team plays to its potential (which they now are), they are amongst the elite of the NBA. Heat in 7.
What did you want them to put: Dallas Burn 1996 U.S. Open Cup The U.S. Open is just not a "World" Championship stat.
They included the Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks with "never". I'd rather they put that with FC Dallas than include an indoor soccer team that no longer exists.
I saw that and was a little steamed about at first, but I think it's just because the Sidekicks won a championship, whereas FCD has yet to even make it to the championship. I think they figured if they were going to list soccer, list the guys who won something.
I think you seriously over-estimate the ability of the Heat to prevent the Mavs from getting to the rim. There was another very athletic big man in the San Antonio series that was supposed to help prevent the Mavs from attacking the basket, and the Mavs put Duncan in foul trouble enough times to give San Antonio headaches. Shaq is athletic, but he's older and slower than he used to be, and I imagine the recipe for going at him will be about the same. I think you're overestimating Payton. To answer your question as to whether he can do that to Howard...no, I don't. Detroit simply doesn't have the offensive capability of the Mavs. The Heat will find themselves with a host of match-up problems, even as they create some against the Mavs. And when the Mavs play to their potential, they are also among the elite. Mavs in 6.
This is not that difficult to analyze. Just like with the Spurs, the speed of the Mavs will be too much for the Heat and AJ will probably go small. There is no good match-up for Dirk and none for Howard. Harris and Terry will drive the lane and Shaq will be too slow to defend and will stay in foul trouble. Of course with Dallas’ depth, there are options. AJ may decide to go big with Diop and Dampier with a 1v1 on Shaq. Here's a recap of the last meeting. We may drop the first game, since that seems to be the trend, but look for the Mavs to take it in 6.
Gosh, we were terrible tonight and still got a fairly comfortable win. I never felt like we didn't have this game in hand. Things are looking good!
It was odd. After the Spurs and Suns I'm accustomed to seeing the opponent make a big run with 3-4 minutes left and make the final few minutes a nailbiter. The best they could do was cut the lead from 10 to 6 with successive Shaq dunks.
