I don't think that he was talking about the ESPN2 games. I think he was talking about the fact that a quarter of our road games aren't going to be on TV at all and to a lesser extent, home games like tonight.
I don't think you'd hear many complaints if at least all the road games were televised. Sure, it's good advertising for the home games to be on ESPN or ABC, but it's not a must have.
My complaints would be almost zero, since I'm at almost all of the home games. But having to listen to road games on the radio for an alleged major league team in the year 2006 is for the birds.
Good point. I know it is something that is a goal of ours, but it ain't cheap and we do the best we can.

Bump. Things are quiet around here this weekend. And the above work is too valuable to allow it to be buried. I'll keep bumping this thread until I see some responses. And if I don't see any responses, i'll assume my services, all of them, are no longer wanted in 116. Let me also add, this is NOT a job for Kev or the front office. And Kev, to keep things equal, please stand down in this thread until you and I will discuss verbally offline. I'm in $ale$ (praise Dobbs) so I know what *i* would do with the above information. The question is, what would *you* do with the above information????? -bs [jugdesmailsvoice] ................................................................................
Hello, Bueller, anyone, I know the Mavs are on, but come on people. What would you do in order to get 100+ college soccer chicks to join the Inferno for a match????? Am I going to have to do this all by myself??? -bs
Since I,myself am of the female persuasion, I don't really care about this but do appreciate the work it took to compile the list.
I dont get it Wade, what do you want accomplished? If I call those people what do you want me to say? Because I know people on the DBU soccer team and I live right by UTD so I can help in these two schools.
The willingness to pick up a phone and make calls is all that I ask. I'll give you the script. Now that the ice has been broken, the plan is for a coordinated operation with the same call script and contact m-o to all of the coaches. You are operative #001. Unless of course you want to be #007 or #027 All operations, sources and methods will be EYES ONLY. For those not familiar with blackopspeak, that means offline and "secret". You own UTD or DBU, your choice. We need 8 other volunteers to each take _one_ school for Project CACHET. In addition, as the first person to show some cajones, you've just won a Guatemaulan flag signed by Carlos Ruiz. -bs
My neice played for Neil Piper and he has been contacted and offered a free ticket for himself and hopefully he'll bring along some players.
Brushes Sand, you forgot the Dallas Community Colleges. They've actually got some really good coaches. Isnt' the $8 college student game ticket already over with? I would like to see it a couple of more times with more advanced notice so I got time to get personally involved with it.
DJ - you seriously are too funny man. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. I'm sure we could get Steve Dahl to come down and do what he did at Comiskey Park in Chicago (I mean really, we probably could.) Great idea, but on second thought, anything like that ever happening to our beloved PHP is too much to bear. Thanks again for the laugh.
Some Disco is actually pretty cool. Unfortunately, I think a Comiskey redoubt would be totally lost on the vast majority of the PHP demographic. Justscore, I appreciate the enthusiasm, however there is much much more to this project that just calling up and asking a coach to "hopefully" bring some players. Are you volunteering to be Primary Operative for TAMU??? -bs
Superfecta, Inferno Man. Hadn't thought of that. I compiled the list from googling search terms designed to return a result set of NCAA-sanctioned programs. (Suprisingly, no such single compiled list exists.) Completely escaped me to compile from result set of NJCAA. I know Richland Thunderducks, someone help me out here and list the others with Women's programs for Junior Colleges in NTX..... -bs
Maybe email someone at Nacogdoches HS for when New England next comes here? I was just reading Dempsey's bio on USSoccer.com today and saw how he went there, maybe some of their students would be interested in coming? Just a thought...
Plenty of Dempsey fans already come to Revs games... ...and cheer on the Revs. Traitors to their heritage - rootin' on that Yankee club.
Ah yes, nice one DJ. Disco Demolition...a watershed moment in musical history, and one of those things they'll talk about in Chicagoland forever, right up there with the '85 Bears and the time Steve McQueen came to town to film "The Hunter". Arguably, much of the heavy lifting for the demise of disco as a popular musical genre was already done by the Psychotic Frogs with their anthemic "Death to Disco", which was released two years previous to Steve and Garry's doubleheader-killing stunt. Much like Altamont, however, Disco Demolition was an event that signaled the end of the era to the world at large. Bloodied yet unbowed, the dance music scene went back underground, where it operates best. Heroes such as Larry Levan kept the spirit alive until it could return triumphantly to the forefront of the culture, and house could beget UK 'ardcore breakbeat, which eventually transformed into jungle and drum 'n bass, the music that mimics the heartbeat of the alien gods. But that is another story for another time. Here endeth the lesson ObOntopic: Brushes Sand's project is a noble one. As always, you're doing yeoman's work man. Pra'Bob.
Jim Benedict coaches the Northlake CC womens team. North Lake CC is in Irving. This is the same Benedict that played for the Dallas Tornado and as a coach put SMU on the top twenty map.
