i'm a fan of ronaldo and all i can say if you think all he brings to the game is step overs than you need to watch a little more. the kid is nothing less than class and will evolve into a great player. what is he 21? give him 2 more years and he will be one of the best in the world.

I think it's hard to compare Robben and C. Ronaldo b/c Robben is much more direct, faster (with and without the ball) and a better crosser. Ronaldo on the other hand, is more two-footed, has a better shot and is better in the air. Their dribbling styles can both be remarkably effective, but it comes down to personal preference.

I don't care if all of you hate him or love him, bottom line is that at 21, he is a world class player and will prove to all in about 2 weeks time just how good he is!!! :p

I'm sure that there are many people who are neutral who would disagree with you. I'm sure that you're approaching this objectively though

C Ronaldo is useless in every game I watch. He never creates anything for others.

I think that is a bit harsh. He's very good for Portugal, but he runs very hot and cold for ManU, and in fact, most of his good form centers around whether he himself is scoring, rather than creating. Somewhat odd for a winger, but as I said, it's a different story for Portugal.

The problem with Man U is that the guys they have are really old and very slow with no imagination ( except for Giggs, but he's old.) Scholes, Solseijer, Giggs, Neville... These guy's are DONE!!! How many times dose Ronaldo's counter attacking lead to a goal or atleast an oppertunity, and if you watch Portugal play, the F#@kin' guy is all over the feild!!! It's just plain and simple hating from people who are blind or just don't wanna know the truth, the truth is Cristiano Ronaldo is the man in Man U and he will be the man in Germany too!!!:p ;)

That's just not true. It's more often that Ronaldo gets the ball on the counter attack, holds on to it to long or trys to do it all himself, and loses the opportunity. And guys like Rooney, Park, and Saha are hardly slow.

homeboy, my problem with Robben and why i would choose Ronaldo is because of the exact thing you said: the left and left-right combo. I have seen defenders not give a DAMN- i mean daring him to cross with his right, and time and time again he has been unable... you find me one clip him crossing with right foot to where it is even mentionable as a cross...
i am amazed still at all the SHIT people talk about C Ronaldo because they HAVE NO FN CLUe.... dude was what inspired Portugal in EURO 2k4 and imagine at that point i think he was 19 or 20... dude, given at that time was not polished at scoring so, he may have cost that game against Greece with the chances that he had...but boy, i still believe Robben got nothing on C Ronaldo...maybe as you said, now it might be just equal, but give the kid two years... he IS going to be a menace for defenders...

He already is fr some, but Robben is young too, and he's impact for Chelsea, especially when he came to the league last season before this one was stunning.

The fact that C-Ron has been so talked about so much in this thread says to how good he is.

You're right, Robben isn't great with his right foot, but that doesn't automatically make Ronaldo better. There have been plenty of great players who were very poor with their weaker foot. And Ronaldo is a poor crosser with either foot, IMO, so in terms of crossing, I'd still take Robben. As for Euro 2004, Robben was impressive as well, but the Dutch squad lacked chemistry.

Let's see. Both play much better for their national team, correct?

    Euro 2004 Semi-final

    Portugal VS. Holland

    Portugal 2-Hollond 1

With the first goal coming courtesy of you know who, and absolutely terrorized Bouma(?) down the flank. While, Robben didn't deliver when necessary. When it mattered in an important game, CR was able to perform, and Robben was less fortunate.

and I guess the fact that "YOU are YOU" means you are unbiased right?
Listen , it's not that I'm biased, I feel that there are better players than C Ronaldo at the moment, it's just not Robben okay. If you where to say Ronaldinho then yes, I would say Ronaldinho is Better, for now...;) , I just can't stand when people come in here analyzing C Ronaldo and saying he sucks???? What F#$kin' football are these people watching??

They are media stars, but football fans know they are outdated. Raúl won't probably even be in the Spain's lineup and Spanish people agree on that. Still, this will probably be the last time to see Zidane, Ronaldo and R.Carlos in a WC, they still can show some magic, who knows, and I personally bet for Ronaldo as the top striker. Beckham, I don't even mention him, he's a pop star, not a football star. He's only rated high by kids and girls.

Join me to the list. Being one of our best players at the moment shows how disgraced we are. And I don't know why you say he's been consistent. I remind you we paid a fortune for him and he's been pathetic in his first year. I mean pathetic, we felt pity for him many times. Only his reputation keeps RM fans expecting for some improvement.

    Overrated Players

    - Cristiano Ronaldo - Nothing but flair. If it wasn't for Scolari, Deco, Pauleta and Maniche I would doubt Portugal could make to the second round.
    - Totti and Del Piero - The italian "Saviors"!! I really believe they can hurt Italy more than they can help. No one likes Totti and Del Piero hasn't played like a top player since a long time. My italian friends! All haill Nesta, Buffon, Gatuso and Gilardino as they will have to save Italy from yet another upset.
