good point...heres betting someone will do to Sala what Ruiz did to Reis last weekend before this season is over...right at the death some red bull bloke hit a 30 yard shot right down the middle...and right at Dario....had the player had the "field sense" of Ruiz he would have chipped him....and scored easily...the guy is way too far off his line on many occassions....if you don't agree then call the bet....beers after the game on the loser..??

The "Why didn't FC Dallas scoop up Cooper" argument is now especially pointless because:

    1) Cooper went off to England, made a great amount of money considering his age and prior resume, and came back a better player.
    2) Almost all the people at FCD who could be faulted, if they can be faulted, are long, long gone.
    3) And the lone holdover (Clarke) has clearly learned the lesson about local talent, if he didn't know it beforehand.
    4) Cooper, if he continues to develop, will have at least two more World Cups in his prime.

Probably because England 66 is new here.

Either he does not understand sarcasm, or is just ill informed.

So, England 66, let me blunt. Most people began to beleive that Jeffries was not the man to take the Burn to the next level sometime in his third year, in, roughly, the first week of May, when the Burn were mathamatically eliminated from the playoffs. I did not hesitate.

I had it figured out around his fifth game. Jeffreis never made the right move. Wheterh it was as complex as a long term vision, or as simple as get a substitution ready, he could not do it well. His trades were nightmarish, seding core members of the team away for players who were not around the next year.

Each year, when I called for Jeffries to be fired, Buzz would challenge me to give him the names of five better coaches. I usually gave him about 20. All right, it was not likely that Cloughie would get his big head over to coach MLS, and it less likely now. And maybe "Any rec league coach" was a bit harsh, though I will stand behind "Any high school coach."

Jeffreis was so inept he left the team in such a large whole, the team could barely get out. Yet, CC had the team one goal from the playoffs the next year. Even so, without CC and GE making sure that Mulrooney came to Dallas, instead of equally dersirable Chicago or Kansas City, and saying no to every offer from Los Angeles unitl they finally gave up Ruiz, FCd might still be a very mediocre team.

I am certain that Jeffries knew about KCJ, because we certainly did. The rumors at the time was that he had no interest in the Burn. That might have been Jeffries's motivaiton in not inviting him to practice. That would be the only one I find reasonable. Only a little bit. Why not invite him to practice, meet the guys, see how they team works out? How exactly would that harm the team?

Now, England 66, are you clear?

I do not, further, wear horns, per se. I wear a leather mask with leather horns. Not the same thing. No, I haver had a good day. Never. Not one. Not in my entire life.

I watched the MSG feed on Direct Kick (best pregame and game commentary in the league IMO). Several times Shep Messing commented how far off the line Sala had wandered. He was fully expecting NYRB to try and chip him before the night was out.

I like Sala. I hope he turns out to be the guy for FCD. His game against DCU was phenomenal. But, I've seen almost all of our keepers have a similar good game at one point or another. Dodd had them repeatedly. So I'm not completely sold on Sala just yet -- much like the team itself, I'm never sure what I'm going to get.

So I considered taking this wager, but then thought better of it. I'd be betting my hopes for Sala.

    This is a sucker's bet.

I like Sala, because he plays dangerously.

I just think it's funny that this KCJ alternate-universe thing is going on in two different threads.

Next up: what if Ramon Nunez was bitten by a radioactive spider?

What if a chemical explosion gave Clarence Goodson super speed, and the ability to vibrate through walls?

What if Richard Mulrooney was sent back in time to assassinate Hitler before he took power?

He could have saved all of his own-goals and would still be a starter

Just to be clear, I am not saying they invited him. I am saying Jeffries said they did. Those are two VERY different things.

England66, how does Kenny Cooper Jr. feel about you taking bets like this against his teammates? I've heard him talk about the team's great locker room and how important it is to the team's success in several interviews. I can't believe he would be down with some of the things you post in here, but maybe I am wrong.

You're forgetting about Sala's wingspan. That guy has the arms of somebody who is at least 6'6''. It is actually quite impressive. Unfortunately, Matt Reis does not - which is why coming off his line is much more dangerous in situations like this for him. Sala could grab some things that Reis just could not.

La Fresa is absolutely correct when she said that Sala went off his line to "cut off the angle." That is exactly what he did, and it's the sign of a very intelligent goalkeeper who reads the game well. Sala is actually pretty conservative for an Argentinian keeper.

BTW La Fresa, you will appreciate this, I'm actually going to start referring to England66 as "El Naco."

I had no problem with Sala's position on the goal....it was the straight on shot at the end of the game that concerned me....a more alert player....say Carlos Ruiz...would have noticed Sala was around the penalty spot and chipped him easily....trust me...players and coaches notice this stuff and someone will chip him...a la Matt Reis....this season...

    ....call me what you want....

I am not talking "against his teammates" (and anyway never discuss it with him)....I am making an observation based on Sala's positioning....thats all.

I have expressed my opinions regarding tactics, line-ups etc....as has every other poster on this thread.

it was a double header.....and this time they were smart....played the main attraction second (as opposed to last year when the NY game followed the England - Colombia game and most of the fans left )

I guess that means when he gripes there is some cause. Hard to find a lot to gripe about (unless you are Scipio) when things are going pretty good.

There is always a reason to complain. there is alwasy a way fro things to fall apart, as we saw last season. There is alwasy a reason to buy XOM and KO.
