Spector was injured but is healthy now from my understanding.

I am sure that Demerit is a fine player but he has as much international experience as I do. The top level he has played at? Coca-Cola Championship, which is basically MLS. Nothing wrong with that but you are comparing him to Bocanegra who has played against the best the EPL has to offer and come out ahead more often then not.

    I think I would take experience in this case.......it's really a no-brainer.

I can't wait to see Demerit get capped after the WC though.

I know that one too! 0. But he'll be playing in the EPL next year...that's more than can be said for Eddie Lewis or Beerholder. :p

Where did I say Americans can't have feel the emotion that English feel when they say 'gutted'.

    Nowhere, idjit.

It's a word that English people use. Americans don't unless they want to sound English.

We say 'field', 'uniform' 'sidewalk' 'awesome' 'thanks' 'pissed' etc...

We don't say 'pitch' 'kit' 'pavement' 'wicked' 'cheers' 'gutted'

We have different words, and you sound stupid when you use theirs instead of ours, ESPECIALLY when you say 'gutted'.

And on top of that, I've hated the word 'gutted' since that France game where everytime any English person talked about what happened they said it. Like it was some sort of law.

    Bad blow for Cory.

You would think Beerholder is the worst player in the USMNT pool. Geez, this guy was the captain of a team that was promoted to the Bundesliga. Think how far we have come when a replacement is somebody with Greggs experience.

No matter who represents our team, I will support them.

Lewis and Berhalter have international experience. DeMerit has none.

Berhalter will be playing in the Bundesliga next year. That's more than can be said for DeMerit.

It's very simple - you do not bring uncapped untried untested players to the frigging World Cup.

I think everyone is overreacting to this news. While it is bad that we are already replacing a second player on the original roster, Gibbs did not look that great on Monday. Berhalter is an experienced defender and I think that he is going to be a positive factor in Germany. Let's not judge him on one game(Germany loss.)

I say "gutted" all the time. To me it means, "I feel like somebody just stuck a sword into my gut." It's a whole lot quicker to say.

That said, Berhalter on the WC roster guts me. If he sees the field, we're in trouble.

Funny, I seem to remember Chris Coleman benching Boca for Luke Resenoir.

Funny, your memory sucks then. Rosenior played left back and Boca moved to the middle and was easily the best centerback they have. Guys on the Fulham website did Goals Against Average for the season for all central defense pairings. Can you guess who was in the top? The Goma-Boca pairing.

Berhalter has been repeatedly exposed for the nats. On top of that, we have 4 centerbacks still on the roster, and no true left back. I dont see why you take Berhalter, who has been burned repeatedly, over Dunivant, who may not be an earthshattering defender, but is a left sidede defender by profession who has played reasonably well in his appearances this year.

The fact is we just lost a very likely starter to injury. That sucks, big time.

What sucks even more is that Berhalter is the next in line. I can only hope that: Dolo, Gooch, Pope, Lewis, and Bocanegra are the only defenders to see the field in the WC. If we have to dip into Albright and Berhalter, well, we could be in trouble. Those two are not WC quality defenders and will get exposed more likely than not in the WC and it won't be pretty for the US.

I think Arena knows this, though. He knows he only has 5 defenders to work with now, and two alternates who snuck on the roster due to injury. 5 should be plenty IMO.

You take Berhalter because Bruce knows what to expect from him. He has experience at the World Cup. For those of you who dont remember it was his header that Frings stopped with his hands. For some reason, I feel some justice is being served Greggs way.
