I think the others will be MUCH more prominent next season, simply because they now hold 3 of the most popular characters of the show, so we simply can't go on without Jack, Sawyer and Kate. Sayeed is still a factor, they showed him back on the boat with Jin and Sun during the bright light. The others showed no real suprise at the bright light. so either they know its nothing really, or they expected it. The links for next season will be more along the lines of a battle between the "others" and the dharma guys who I don't think are the same, that's why they were referred to as hostiles a few times.
where there multiple people assailants wearing suits? or was it just Desmond's blurry and double vision that made it seem like there were more then one? I agree with what you've said in point 2, but does turning the key make the magnetic field uncontrolable? I thought that hitting the button every 108 minutes made the EMF field release itself so it didn't explode or something like that.
Michael Emerson, who plays Henry Gale, was made a season regular for season 3. BTW, look up the name Henry Gale. There are a couple interesting returns for the name.
Actualy, in the early '80s I worked a ticket sales booth at a major Midwestern amusement park. There was a tube system taking cash under the park to the bank. One day they neglected letting us out to pee for half the day. The tube system was the only alternative so...you guessed it. I like this: (from lostpedia) The Others are DHARMA scientists. Since the DHARMA initiative believes in forming a utopian society (as stated in the orientation video), they began to develop a virus that will lead humanity into this higher stage of being. In order to create a utopian society, you need to seed out all "evil" parts of humanity. The foundation discovered that the biology of naturally "evil" humans is different than of "good" ones (for example genes that cause violent behavior, etc). They created a virus that selectivly attacks this specific biology in purpose of killing all humans possessing these "evil" genes. The island is the test area for this virus (must be secluded to prevent outbreaks). The first button pressers where test subjects that were infected in order to make sure the virus only kills "evil" people. The lost survivors are a mixed group of "good" and "evil" people. Most characters have committed murder, and it is known that the others are trying to find the "good" ones among them (and save the innocent children by manually giving them antidotes). The others are infecting the survivors to do the final tests on this virus before it is released to the public. The others (although they are scientists) indeed present several characteristics of a cult (He is a great man, but an unforgiving one). This fits the entire "correcting" the world using science agenda.
OK so with the new magnetic release I doubt a commercial plane comes down, but who's to say they couldn't "pull down" a cargo or military jet? It'd be a very convenient way for the castaways to get a hell of a lot of supplies.
I wonder what the deal was with the foot of the statue that Sayid, Jin, and Sun found. Hopefully, we'll find out in Season 3.
They seem to be careful about balancing the "evidence" on either side of the "it's all in somebody's head" theory. For every bird saying Hurley's name (which says hallucination) you get a shot of an apparently real somebody on the outside world (Desmond's girlfriend) doing real things. How long they can do this without leaving plot holes too big to fill to people's satisfaction is a big question. I will say that this was the very best episode I've seen in a while.
My guess for the beginning of Season 3 is that Michael and Walt end up nowhere in the boat just like Desmond ended up nowhere in the sail boat. When will the next season start anyway? This episode just left me wanting more like every other time.
Season Three will open with almost too many groups to follow without having a two hour session: *Jin, Sun, and Sayeed in Desmond's boat *Michael and Walt in the Others' boat *Jack, Sawyer, and Kate as prisoners *Eko, Locke, and Desmond in the hatch, alive or dead *The other survivors on the beach *Hurley walking back to the beach - but since he was hooded when taken prisoner and has no food/supplies, where does he go? And I suppose we could add the Portuguese speakers and Penelope, and Rousseau to the list of people who will need to "check in" soon. Thoughts: -Walt joined the Others, or so says NotHenry. -Backstories incomplete if the guys in the Hatch are dead: Locke's paralysis, Desmond's cowardice and discharge. -Some bit of ancient mythology must hint at the four toed foot - was it on a raft that washed ashore, or on shore?
Yeah, just how far can a boat like that go anyway? Even if it wasn't pulled back by a magnetic field, I don't think it's got that great of a range. What is the significance of bearing 325? Magnetic north?
Anyone catch this from the site? Widmore Immaculate Conception* Pregnancy Test: As reliable as our regular test, but with the added reading of the DNA markers 5, 8,15, 23, and 54 which are indicative of irregular paternity. Available in institutional packaging only.
She was on that show "the mind of the married man" She played the main characters wife. Why did HBO have to cancel that show as well.
uhh... repost... everybody is too lazy to read all the posts... at least read what's been posted around your old posts within the day..
Uhh...what the hell is 32.5? Don't be too lazy to get your facts straight from the show now. http://home.att.net/~jleggio/projects/rdf/c_rose.gif
Right on both points - as to Desmond, I thought I could see several Others running from the woods, but absolutely, the director and production team were fooling with the camera during the scene, could have been double vision. I guess we need a Tivo check. As to point 2, my interpretation could definitely be wrong. I like yours, because it's quality common sense - why have a failsafe key, hidden in the bowels of the station, unless the solution it provides is something that you'd only want to use as a last resort. Bringing in other stuff, Locke's 'system failure' magnetic field was crushing stuff in the bunker within a couple of minutes. But Desmond's couldn't have run as long, since the metal in the bunker was still intact after the previous failure. And when the search party found the pilot in the first episode of Lost, he said the radio had been out for 6 hours and the plane was 1,000 miles off course. So, either it's incredibly bad luck that the plane wandered into the 'vector' right as Desmond went through the system failure and had those other problems, or something else was also at work - back to Faith (bad luck) v. Science (intervening force). And that's ironic - that it would be coincidence - because the show undid some of Locke's 'Faith' in the finale, by providing a factual (aka, scientific) explanation to the 'light shining from within' the hatch, also from Season 1.
