I finally got to attend an FCD game this past weekend (vs. Houston) with my brother, and we both could not get over how nice the stadium is. We were a little bit peeved about having to throw away our bottled water before entering the stadium, but I think that's a reality at all sporting events now.

I understand why there were not a lot of people there now (they claimed there were 12.5k, but there could not be any more than 7k there). The highways around the stadium are not completed, and getting to the stadium from northeast of Dallas is a pain because of the traffic lights in McKinney. Not only that, it was ridiculously hot that day, probably above 100 right on the pitch. Nevertheless, it was a fun time.

I enjoyed a lot of the drumming that occurred during the game, but would have preferred something melodic to go with it. My suggestion, FC Dallas foots the bill to have a large mariachi band playing on the stage during the game. It would give the games kind of a unique flavor, as well as adding to the atmosphere. Plus, who wouldn't like a guy in a big red sombrero and uniform.

Count me as one of those guys who would really really not want a guy in big sombrero and uniform playing annoying mariachi music during a soccer game. I can barely stand them at a Mexican restaurant so ixnay on the seranading.
Glad you came though, try to come to night game though. Much better atmosphere. Day games basically suck for a variety of reasons (heat among them).

Just an idea. I'd say that they should get a high school band to be a "guest" for each game, but that would be hard to do during the summer.

I too, experienced my first FCD game recently. I came down from Cape Girardeau, MO to visit Dax and went to the LA game Wed. night and the 2 games against Houston on Saturday. I had a really good time even with the temperature differences between the two games. I know I was only driving in Frisco itself, but I found the PHP to be easy to find. Just so you know, I'm not know for being able to drive somewhere new without getting totally lost.

I just wish that on Sat., more people had stuck around for the Reserve game. They deserve support too.

Flashback to that place that will not be named.

Please, for the love of all things holy, do not ever mention a high school band in conjunction with our beloved game ever again.

I have to call my therapist now.

They've got a pep band at Dyna-blow games. I have no idea what they play.

I believe we met you at that reserve game! Glad ya had fun.

Agreeance on the support, especially since a common complaint here has been "There should be doubleheaders! We like seeing more than one game."

As for bands...Houston has the aforementioned marching band type thing...meh. Not feelin' it.

Y'all will just have to wait for my forthcoming FC Dallas concept album. :)

A polka band would be sweet. And a high school band would certainly beat those retarded horns and off-beat drums.

I was part of the small crew with doctor_j. Was nice to talk to you after the game. Gotta love peeps that drive like that to watch our beloved Hoops! And as we mentioned after the game you're welcome to join The Inferno at the pre/post game tailgates any time you make it back out this way.

There's nothing wrong with polka - it would bring in the German descendents from Fredricksburg. We need to claim that demographic before Dyanblow does. :)

See, this is the kind of quality entertainment y'all are missing at the reserve games :)

Yep. The twisted vaccum that is my mind leaks a bit more in smaller groups. Just ask Janice, Kevin and Warren. They did a road trip to CO with me.

I caught a Cup match between Chicago Fire and Monarcas Morelia a few years back (2002?). Anyways, they had a Mariachi band play during halftime.

Also of note for the haters of the Fire...this match was in Chicago, but the Fire supportors were outnumbered at least 2 to 1, perhaps even 3 to 1 by the Mexican contingent. I sat with them and cheered against the Fire.. twas quite fun!

Maybe if they publicized the Reserve games more, people would have stayed. I mean, c'mon, Gina didn't even know about the game, and she writes about them for 3rdDegree!!
