Where does the inferno plan to be during the USMNT games? Last time around, Ben Half Yard was my base camp but I want to find a place with the largest HD screen surrounded by the die hardest US soccer fans. And please, not PHP. it's too far to drive afterward when you are a little buzzy
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC I've been wondering the same thing. Unfortunately the only game I'll probably catch live is the Saturday one. Czech Republic, right?
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC Stadium Cafe has the nice, big HD and I've watched a game w/ Inferno there before. I'll be sitting on my comfy couch this time though
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC yea, theres nothing that will tear me away from my couch for the whole month, not work, not the woman, nothing. It would be nice to watch some games in HD, I can't shell out the doe for an HDTV though, so if I knew a good gathering for big games I may leave the couch for that.
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC Well, I'm taking two weeks off work for the first round and while I was planning on watching the games on the TV at Chez Jefe, I would be amenable to watching them elsewhere if the place in question had ABC HD/ESPNHD/ESPN2HD.
WC Watching My apologies in advance if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but I'm wondering where FCD and soccer fans in general are planning to watch the USA games around here. Any recommendations for where to go?
Re: WC Watching I've got a few feelers out for places in Tarrant County to see if anyone would welcome soccer freaks on this side of the Metroplex. I've got feelers in to Fox & Hound in Arlington just off Green Oaks and Collins and Rawlings All American Grille at Ameriquest Field. Inferno Mom was also going to put a call into someone as well. I'm going to stop by a new sports bar that just opened up closer to 360 in Arlington/Grand Prairie as well. If anyone has any other ideas for places to gather in this area, please make the contact and see if you get receptive results. I'm contacting places that I think would be good and that I know in this area. But I'm by no means an expert so any other ideas/options are welcomed.
Re: WC Watching Sorry, I don't know the score on the VWC. Is that going to be open to the general public during the games?
Re: WC Watching Then we might actually meet, tg. Ask Dustin, I was looking for you Saturday. I've requested (and received) off from work the days that the US plays (including potential round of 16 days) and a few others, and was going to just watch at home. But the thought of watching at PHP with others cheering is intriguing....almost too good to pass up, eh? Will the bar be open?
Re: WC Watching Kind of depends on the day for me. I'll probably watch all the US games at the VWC. Might catch a couple days at Trinity Hall and on the more tame days I'll just watch at home.
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC If she's the right woman, she's on the couch watching WC with you
Re: WC Watching During WC games, yes. On FCD gamedays, no, it's only open to those with the expensive seats.
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC Some Infernites plan on being in Germany watching the US play
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC My couch will be a player. Im not taking off work but I bought an extra Tivo so I can record up to 4 games at a time.
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC Damn you and your dual tuner lifestyle!!! I took off for the US games against the Czechs (full day off) and against Ghana (half day). My boss has been warned that advancement to the knockout rounds = more days off for me. I think we would play the round of 16 game on a Tuesday.
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC Only if we come in second in our group. <ptooie> The winner plays Monday, June 26.
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC I second Trinity Hall - but will also spend a fair bit of time on my couch as well!
Re: WC Watching Just to confirm a few things and share some possibilities as well - we will be hosting the vast majority of the WC games, and certainly the US games, probably the Mexico games as well as other big hitters, at PHP. Verizon Wireless Club will be free (as will parking, I believe), with the games on all the screens and the in-stadium video boards. Food and drink will be available for purchase. I've also heard that they are working to get some good perks above and beyond just having the bar open during the games - a possible office station on one hand and drink and food deals on the other. I'll share as I know.
Re: WC Watching Cool...sounds good, Kevin. Will some FCD players be watching the games at the club, too?
Re: The place to be in Dallas for the WC So Kevin, IS there wireless inside the Verizon Wireless Club? Could I bring a laptop and work during the game? Just curious...
