    True dat.

MAd props to the Gunners. Showed heart and spirit all the way through and made a hell of a game for Barca. Wenger should be slapped for some questionable tactics and subs.

Refs were horrible, but remember, Gooners, a bad call on a dive by Eboue got you Campbell's goal. At the end of the day, Henry had a few chances and couldnt put them away and that was the real difference.

IT's all good. Your team has done an amazing job this year in Europe and they continually make footy a poetic and passionate endeavor. Hope you can keep Henry next year.

    PEACE

Just thinking of it is making me so upset and sad again....so much so I can't sleep.

But when I do finally, I will still be very very proud of what we did today.

I am sorry, but being proud of losing is for losers. It is an oxymoron. There is no pride in being second best. The only team remebered are the winners. If you want to console yourself based on things like 'heart' or 'effort' which are awarded as you so please to award them, then be happy.

I am PISSED off about this game. I wont stop supporting the team, but we need massive reinforcements and a serious gutcheck. We were hanging on by a thread and still doing that same bunkerball crap we did for the majority of the game. This CL we played like Chelsea and we got what was coming to us. AW can talk a mean game about playing football with style, but it really never materialized in the CL.

Gutted as someone said. Only good parts of today was watching it with a very good friend and then running into GunnerPhan in Union Square after the match.

We played well, even with 10 men, but can anyone explain why we packed it in after the 50th minute? No one chased a ball, and this was the most frustrating thing for me.

I'm pissed about the game also, but I'm proud of what we did today. Does it hurt that we lost, yeah it hurts like hell...but we did a great job for most of the match and I'm proud of them for that. I never said I was proud for losing, I was proud of what we did out there for most of the match with 10 men.
Winning the match would have been great to be remembered for, but I don't support Arsenal for that reason, not saying you or anyone else does. I love the heart that this club has, and I saw that for most the match.
I think we did a great job in the CL so there is no reason for me to not be proud that we made it as far as we did. We made it to the final. When is the last time that happened?
Call me a loser if you want, but I don't view my club or my feelings and others that are proud of Arsenal today as loser.

Yeah and watching it with Catfish made it better....I had someone to share my sadness with.

We won no trophies, we finished fourth in the league. I wish I could say the effort yesterday was good, but it wasnt. Too many errors cost us, even with 11 men. Barca made errors too, but Valdez bailed them out. We are a 'world class' squad that clings to 1-0 in Europe like a defected cuban clings to his life raft made of garbage in the middle of the Atlantic.

Its not a "defected Cuban" until he/she reaches the shore. Then it would be an assylum seeker/refugee.

Don't piss on people today. As a fellow fan you should just let people vent and get today out as they see fit. To go around telling us how horrible we were (and we weren't) or how we should feel (proud or not) is just a dick thing to do.

    Bah. Still gutted.

The football God's did not smile upon us today. Scored on a dodgy call and got it right back in the end.

If you told me during our stretch of bad form not too long ago that the team would suck it up and end up nicking 4th from the Spurs and making the Champions League final I'd take it in a heartbeat.

    Just wasn't meant to be.

Piss off. dont like it? dont read it. If you want to console yourself in some great invisible effort that our obviously flawed team put forward, then go right ahead. The bottom line, even with 11 men, Gilberto was passing the ball to Barca like he was their playmaker, and even when it was 1-0 with 10 men no one besides Henry had the balls to try to attack on a regular basis. We played like Chelsea, we got what we deserved.

I've mentioned several times on this board how I'm a new fan of the game and I chose Arsenal as my club.
Because of that, I didn't expect to feel so devastated.
Gutted just doesn't describe the feeling.
Still, I couldn't help but feel proud to support a club that fought so hard under such impossible circumstances.
Any other team would have wilted under that pressure.
I echo you guys. I am proud to be a Gooner tonight.

although I already knew the result, I just forced myself to watch the entire match since I had an all-day conference (out of town) that was scheduled months ago that I couldn't cancel or reschedule.

I'm pissed at the result, and proud of my squad. Nothing to hang my head about, but the missed chances are keeping me up late tonight.

BTW - the ESPN2 commentators made the match twice as painful to watch. Why 'Celo Balboa is anywhere near a Champions League Final offering player commentary is mind boggling. And that Janusz Michallik - WORTHLESS. The guy could barely put 2 words together, much less offer any insight to the match. I didn't catch any commentary from him in the second half, so ESPN must have thought the same thing. Tommy Smyth - not much better (not that I expected it). I do like Derek Rae though - it's a shame he has such little talent to work with. Not one ESPN2 broadcaster pointed out or event suggested Eto'o being offside on goal #1. Amazing. If this is the type of broadcasters ESPN is forcing me to watch for the WC this summer, I'd much rather watch it in another language...

I was thoroughly gutted today. I had a day long meeting and had a long enough break to celebrate Campbell's goal, only to come back at the next break and find out we lost. It's tough to accept, because we spent the majority of the match down to 10 men, but held them off all the way until the 76th minute. I could sit here and rant about "what might have been", but that does no good right now.

I still need to say that, given the effort of the club over the last few weeks, I am enormously proud to be a Gooner today. They could have totally gone in the tank a few weeks ago when it looked like we had no shot at fourth, but they fought on and nicked it at the death. They could have folded the tent in the CL several times when they were under immense pressure, but they made the final. And they could have folded today when Lehmann was sent off early, but they fought back to take the lead and could have won the match. Yes, losing in a final is always tough when you get so close, but we have absolutely nothing to hang our heads about. It was a brave display by a group that I don't think is near its peak yet. While this leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, now that they've had the experience, I'm looking forward to seeing what this group does next year.

I must say almost 12 hrs and I am still sulking.

    It just feels so unresovled.

But I think part of it is wishing to hear Henry will sign w/ us so we can relax or get some good news already. Because the next good news will be a while later for Arsenal (of course we/some of us have the World Cup) but it's not much to do w/ Arsenal.

it's like wanting to play another match so quickly to "fix" the problem but now there's nothing to forget about this.

Plus, big surprise Henry couldn't score in the Stade de France, he hasn't scored there in YEARS.

October 2003. That is 9 matches ago for France in Saint Denis. I didn't want to jinx anything and make a joke pre-match that Henry doesn't remember how to score in the Stade de France :(

Well, I spent about 20 mins reading through his stats to see how many times he's scored at the St. de France. (11 in 22 by the way and in 2003 he actually scored there 6 matches in a row).

Anyhow, after 20 mins of that I still don't feel better..

although I was distracted for part of that!

Tommy Smyth is an absolute joke. I like Derek Rae a lot but Smyth has got to get the shaft. Balboa also is clueless about European soccer he should stick to the MLS-seems like a nice guy though. Smyth for years has been all over Man Utd. As bad as the announcers were for ESPN2, I thought we played well given the happenings in the 20th minute or so. I'm still not sure how Henry missed that chance he had in the second half. I don't know when I'll get over this loss but it may take a while-at least some cheap beer can help the cause for now. Worst part about the loss is that it will probably take another several years to ever get back to the final of this tournament which sucks.

I think you are being to harsh on your team here. What are you supposed to do? I do not know any team that would not try and hold the 1-0 when you are one man down in a CL final, it was your best shot, hell you almost scored on the counter and that would have been game over.

Your team did what they were supposed to do and you cannot blame them, I know it does not feel like it now, but take it from someone who supports a team that has lost the CL final a record number of times, be proud that you made it this far, because that is no small thing at all...

Well done Arsenal, too bad the game turned out as it did, but you have no-one to blame
